Router Lists Not Loading (unable to update)
« on: November 11, 2009, 10:26:05 AM »
Hi I did a complete overhaul of my computer last night and upgraded my motherboard. In doing so I had to reformat my HD and reload all my programs, including SPF. When reinstalling, the program asked to update and it went to the newer version fine, but when I tried to update the router lists. I get nothing. I have tried everything I know (I am a computer hardware/software tech) and yet I still can't get a single router to show on the list. I know my router, its a 2wire with SBC firmware and SPF previously listed this and many other routers in other versions. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.  Can you tell me what OS you installed (i.e. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) and if you are using the standard version of SPF or the portable (zip) version?

I've seen this happen with the portable version on Vista before, that's why I ask.

We will get you fixed as quickly as we can.  :)

Hi  :)
The program stores every thing into a Access database. Which my program uses MDAC to read the database. When the program can not read the database there is normally something wrong with the MDAC.

Under the advanced menu I have a repair MDAC tool, which re-registers all the MDAC files. Run that then reboot and give it another try  ;D

I installed Window's XP SP3 Black Edition. <---- I'm naughty  ;D I am also using simple port forwarding v2.4.4 which upgrades to the newest version upon install.

I will try the MDAC repair asap. Currently involved in an install of WoW. (main reason I wanted SPF reinstalled)

Thank you both for your replies.

*Edit* I would also like to add as a technician I find your program here to be very useful. It is much easier for myself and my customers to use SPF than to manually remember the steps involved with entering your router box. Keep up the wonderful work!

 ;D ;D Thanks!

Let me know if the MDAC repair takes care of you.

Also all I ask in return for my work is you simply let others know about it and the site, we do more than just port forwarding LOL  ;)

I install SPF on any customers computer that may need to open ports for an application. Usually torrent users are the biggest. As far as the site is concerned I just found it myself  ;) I will let others know of the site now, especially people who own computers I install your products on. I'd also like to add SPF is a big hit with torrent users and is uploaded on a few sites.

I still have a few hours of installation remaining for WoW, its been running all night. Soon as that is done I will work on configuring SPF. In the meantime I will explore more of your site and other programs you offer.

Thank you again for your timely responses. I will post here again as soon as I have more information.

Well the repair worked and I got the router to show up on the list, but now I am having a problem with my router. I called my ISP and they are shipping a new one to me overnight so I will finish dealing with this total issue of opening my ports for Warcraft tomorrow. Thank you Shane for all your great work and timely responses.
