Blood Bowl and a Belkin FSD8233-4 v3
« on: September 12, 2009, 10:57:52 AM »
Hey, recently downloaded bloodbowl (legaly) for the PC and cant get the damn thing to connect to the internet to play it online. Have used your wondrful little tool and have encountered one small problem. It updates the router perfectly but the ports still cant be found as open by the final check. I THINK it has to do with me not having a static IP address, however when i get it to change over to a static,i lose connection to the internet . . .

I'm acomplete novice at this, and i do mean COMPLETE, so any help or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Been trying to get this set up for about 5 hrs now . . .

Cheers

Andy

Static ip isn't needed and is only an extra option. It is also meant for your computer and not the router :-)

How many routers does the detect tool find? (under the tools menu)

also make sure to give this a good read.

Ok, it finds only one router. Having had a quick look thro the other parts of the help file i dont THINK i'm doing anything wrong there. I actually got it working last night by fixing a static IP then going manually into the router and playing with the forwarding port to that IP. God knows if that was the right thing to do, but it seemed to work. However, today it aint working again and it's really bugging me.

Ty for the quick response btw

The goal of the help pages, guides and the program is to teach, you doing it manually is just fine  ;D

Ok lets review, you said it was working for a while, you havent changed anything and then it stopped working. First thing to do is to double check and make sure the rules are still pointing to the right IP of your computer. If your computers ip is still the same and the rules are still pointing to it, and nothing else has changed then try this. Unplug the power to your router for about 5 sec. Plug it back in, wait till the internet is back up and test the ports.

If simply repowering your router fixes the problem then you may have a faulty router.

Let me know  :)
