Simple Port Forward Setup
« on: September 11, 2009, 08:06:48 PM »
Hi!  I'm glad I've come across this forum.  I've read quite a few of the topics and wanted to say I appreciate the information you guys are willing to share with us non-techers in a language I am able to understand.

I'm wondering which Simple Port Forward program would be best for my use... the program or the portable.

In the past I have always opened ports manually.  Using a2-Wire 2701 HG-B router,  I have two desktops that stay up most of the time already with open ports for Utorrent.  As I was about to open a port for my new laptop I had the good fortune to come across you guys.

I travel with my laptop where I use Utorrent as well.  Would it be possible for me to use the portable version of the program at other locations away from my home?

What would you suggest to be the most efficient setup I should use?

The portable is simply for people who want to run it off a thumb drive and use it on multiple computers without installing. Both versions are the same so it doesnt matter which you use  ;D

I try my best to make it as simple as possible and to make the help pages simple as well. The goal is to get users to help themselves, Im only one guy and can only help so many people at once. So it is much better, if I ever want to have time for a life lol, to teach people instead  ;D

Think of that famous saying,

You can give a starving man a fish and feed him for a day. Or you can teach the man to fish and feed him for a life time.

Sweets.  Worked like a charm.  I was trying to see if I could add the existing ports opened from the router to the list in the program.  It looks like I have to do those manually, or did I miss something?

The program just mimics the steps of adding port forwarding rules for you. SO you will have to add the ports to the program  ;)
