program not opening
« Reply #15 on: June 28, 2009, 06:22:15 AM »
Hi All,
I trolled the forums thankfully came across this thread as it looks like I am having the same problem,

Computer is home built AMD based and running XP pro. Ver,2002 fully updated complete with ser,pk 3.

I installed SPF and when clicked on it gives small flash screen ‘please wait SPF is loading‘ and then nothing.

I open up task manager and the program appears to be running and there is a process running but nothing happens beyond the first little splash screen.

When I use task manager to close SPF it comes back ‘This program is not responding’

HELP!!!

Cupiddstunt,

Lets get you started on getting this working right.  First off, have you tried all the suggestions listed in this post?  If you have a firewall installed try turning it off then trying again.

Give that a try and check the other suggestions and let me know where you stand.

I know this may sound

I know this may sound strange, but I'm very happy you are having this problem! lol
Let me explain, the other person was able to get it fixed by installing sp3. But this didn't tell me what was broken, and that drives me nuts.

So if you are willing to work with me I would like to pinpoint the actual problem so a proper fix can be made or what ever it takes.
Let me know :-)

not strange at all I understand just what you mean, you need to have the problem manifest itself in order to find a fix for it.

According to task manager SPF is running but there is no window showing, I have tried  all the ideas in the thread, went into he inf file and changed the 1 to a 0, shut down my firewall for a short while, nothing seems to make any difference.

I have a strong feeling it

I have a strong feeling it has to do with DAO.
the program uses Microsoft dao to read the database file, and that's what happens in the startup process. DAO is part of the operation system.

In the help file for spf I have info on how to reinstall dao, but im wondering if it goes deeper than that. Perhaps a file not be registered right or something out of whack.

I found fixes for IE by running a batch file that re registered all of the files IE needs (over 100 of them) and it has fixed IE every time. I would like to find a way to do the same for dao.
