Download speed
« on: January 23, 2009, 09:54:09 AM »
When I download, mainly with utorrent, i can only get speeds up to 80kb/s if it is running good sometimes it will set there just pulling .1 or .2 kb/s until i change something like the download priority or the maximum download amount form 60000kb/s to unlimited. then it will start working better is this normal or is something wrong?

have you tested to make sure

have you tested to make sure the ports are open in the router? also did you change the default port to something else? some ISP's block the default ports of the programs.

ISP's HATE p2p no matter how it is used.

I just checked the port it is using and it is set to a random port and it has an option to have it pick a random port every time it opens.

having it choose a random
« Reply #3 on: January 23, 2009, 08:37:34 PM »
having it choose a random port is a bad thing if your behind a router.

Have t use one port, something high, like say 54389 (random number off the top of my head)

then set up a port forwarding rule for that port to your computer in your router. Your speeds will pick up a good amount.

if your talking about the
« Reply #5 on: January 24, 2009, 08:44:51 AM »
if your talking about the utorrent program youll leave the ip address alone. That is for if you have more than one nic card installed and have more than 1 IP you can tell the program which to use.

For the port forwarding rule in your router the IP will be you computers local ip address. like 192.168.0.102 (or what every it is) and for port choose Both TCP/UDP if you can. otherwise make a rule for both.

If your router is in my simple port forwarding program that can make things a little easier on you.
What router do you have?

ah!, my program will auto
« Reply #7 on: January 24, 2009, 10:44:59 AM »
ah!, my program will auto detect your local IP for you, so it should already be in there, then just set the ports to what you set in the utorrent program and update the router.

close utorrent, then test the ports from my program.

Then restart utorrent and see how it goes after some time.

it successfully tested but i still haven't seen a huge change in utorrent now it is bouncing back and forth between 3 kb\s and 70 kb\s the speed graph looks like a roller coaster.
