Ping and Call of Duty World at War
« on: November 22, 2008, 10:58:34 AM »
Is there any way that I can fix the way that call of duty gives me the error message "server is for low ping players only" when i am playing multiplayer

P.S. Shane can you add "Call of duty world at war" and "far cry 2" to the simple port forwarding database.

Sure I will add those ports later tonight.

The ping time can be controlled by a lot of things. Such as heavy traffic on your ISP, your modem or router, and of course any other downloading or uploading going on while your trying to play. Firewalls can also slow things down as they like to scan the packets before they come in or out causing a higher ping. best thing to do for the first test is plug your pc right up to the modem and disable any firewalls and see what ping times you get. This will let you know if you have something on the network slowing you down.

Also keep in mind the call of duty server you can connecting to could be the slow one and not you. Since the servers are peoples PC's if they are under a heavy load or their isp is under a heavy load the ping time to them will suffer and still give you that error.
