Lorex DDNS Setup(dvr:LH118000)
« on: May 31, 2012, 09:38:13 PM »
Hi Shane,

I need your help. I can see camera vedio locally(on the same network, login with local IP) on computer and iphone, but can't on internet. After reading other similar topic, I dubt I set up Lorex DDNS account correctly. I am confused what IP address I should input in the DDNS set up. Is it should be my DVR's IP address(192.168.001.012) or my external IP address(72.67.85.124)? I tried both IP addresses and it didn't work. I can see the login page, but couldn't log in. (I am on the same network with DVR, but I remotely connect to the desktop in my office and open rpwang.lorexddns.net with IE9.0 and try to log in. Will it be an issue testing this way?)

Thanks for your help.

You use the internet IP for the DDNS name.

I just tried connecting and it isnt working. So post 2 screen shots for me.

1. A screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router.
2. A screen shot of the network setup in the DVR

Lets go form there :-)

Shane,

Hope you are here now. Attachment is screen shot of port forwarding only. I don't know how to get screen shot of Network setup, so I type them here.

Type: DHCP
Media port: 09000
WEB port: 00080
IP Address: 192.168.001.012
Netmask: 255.255.255.000
Gateway: 192.168.001.001

DNS1: 192.168.001.001
DNS2: 000.000.000.000
Auto Port Forwarding: Enable

Not sure these are what you ask for. Thanks

Those are not the screens I asked for

1. A screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router. (Go to the port forwarding page in the router, scroll the page to the bottom and get a screen shot)
2. A screen shot of the network setup in the DVR (This is in the DVR itself and shows it network setup)

Shane,

Thanks for reply. Here are the screen shots you asked. I'm using a VerizonWestell 9100EM15-10 router/gateway.

I just connected to your internet IP you posted under and I get the lorex screen, so you are working :cheesy:

So keep this in mind. When home and on the same network as the DVR you will use your local IP.

When outside your home like I am you will use your internet IP, this is because most routers don't like reverse nat.

That sounds great. So right now I am trying to use my iphone to test remotely control. I disabled the my iphone wifi since right now I am at home so I would use 3G. But when I type in rpwang.lorexddns.net and try to connect to my ddns account, I got error message says:" You have't installed the plugin or its not the latest version. Please click dowload(linked) to install the latest version. Please restart Safari after plugin installation." But when I click the download link, I got "Download Failed. Safari cannot download this file". Why is that? Is it because my Safari is outdated? Thank you so much for your help, Shane.

It only works in IE.
So when using from your phone you need to download their viewer app

Shane,

I just tried to login(remotely) my computer in my office, and tried to login rpwang.lorexddns.net but failed(see screen shot). Does this way suppose to work?(Use a computer at home to remotely login a computer outside of network, then try to login a DVR on a same network as my home computer).

For my iphone, I assume you meant software Lorex_mobile_ECO provided by Lorex, which I have it on my iphone. I can use it see DVR videos locally with Address 192.168.1.12. But When I turned off wifi and use 3G to connect to rpwang.lorexddns.net(I changed address from 192.168.1.12 to rpwang.lorexddns.net), I could not see DVR videos. What is wrong here? I use the User ID: admin, and password: 0000 according to Lorex user manual.

I am not sure on the passwords, for that you will have to give lorex a call.

I have noticed that with other users. The same login they use locally doesn't work remotely.
When you call them and they tell you why please make sure to post back and let me know
