Port forwarding issue - unable to log into modem
« on: January 26, 2012, 06:47:31 PM »
I'm having trouble port forwarding port number 27015; I suspect that the modem could be the culprit, after reading one of the website's pages that teaches how to port forward behind two routers/modems. I have just recently gotten this new modem, because I've switched from my old ISP (Rogers) to my new ISP (TekSavvy)

My computer, along with two others are currently behind a router (TP-Link WR340G) which is in turn behind a modem (Thomson DCM-425)

My external IP address is 24.246.62.233

yet on the WAN section of my router's page it shows the IP Address of 10.168.122.2 and a Default Gateway of 10.168.122.1, as you can see:

If I understand correctly, the default gateway is the address of my modem.

After typing that into my browser, this window pops up, and I have no idea what to put in it:

If anyone could help me, I would be VERY grateful! Thanks.

Your going to have to call your ISP to get the password, they should give it to you

I see. I will try to contact them then.

P.S. Is it possible that it's actually a device of my new ISP's rather than my modem? After some minor researching, the only thing I could find that is relevant to the "spa user" (pop up message, third picture) with it are Cisco's Linksys products, which I do not posses.

Your modem is acting like a router. So right now your behind 2 routers. Once you get logged into it you can get things working

Oh yeah, I think I forgot to mention this, but the DCM-425 is a cable-modem. Do cable-modems even provide a firewall function?

Some do. You know it is when your router gets a local internet IP, means it got it from the cable modem.
