Port 25565 won't open. At end of hopelessness.
« on: January 21, 2012, 08:54:22 PM »
Hey everyone. I'm 16 I've been programming, coding and running servers for 7 years (yeah, since I was 9). I've portforwarded many times. I made a small minecraft server to show my buddy, and I PF'd as normal, yet it just won't go through. I checked, 25565, that port is NOT open, even after I forwarded it, so I PF'd port 80, just as a test, and it wasn't open either. I'm on my desktop in my room, with a wireless adapter, connecting to a Belkin router. I've tried everything and now i'm hopeless. I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out? I have some pictures for reference. I've done everything as I should and it still won't connect. Only when I do "localhost" it connects me.
Thanks for the help!
&& My firewalls have been shut off completely, computer wise as well as via router settings.

I've also turned off DMZ as well as made my own static IP, and it still doesn't work.
Thanks!

Go to the first page when you log into the belkin. There you will see its WAN IP address. Does it match the IP on this page?

Hi Shane  :cheesy:

The WAN IP on my Belkin homepage is my home computer's internal IP.
The link you send me shows me this computer's external IP.

So no, they're different.

Thanks Shane, I understand now.

But on the DMZ page, do I enter in the internal IP of my home computer, or the computer with the Wireless LAN, which i'm running the server from?

You enter the WAN IP from the belkin, just like the page says

Sorry, just having some trouble. When I visit the default gateway via the upstairs computer, it takes me to the router settings, (Belkin) , yet when I go to the downstairs computer it takes me to Comcast Business Gateway (the modem)

OK, log into the belkin. On the first page you will see the WAN IP. Write it down. You will also notice the gateway should be the IP to the comcast modem.

Log into the comcast modem, go to DMZ and put in the IP your wrote down. Save and your done

DMZ is a open all ports rule and they are all going to go to the belkin now. From there you belkin port forwarding rules should start working :-)

Gotcha. So I went into the Belkin router, via this upstairs computer, and the WAN was 192.168.100.** , so I went downstairs, logged into Comcast Business Gateway , and went to DMZ and enabled DMZ, and wrote that in.
Came back upstairs, check to see if port 25565 was open, still gives me the red flag. :/

Local IPs are safe to post

Post a few screen shots for me so I can check everything.

1. Screen shot of the main page in the belkin
2. Screen shot of the DMZ in the comcast
3. screen shot of the results of my port tester.

Also make sure DMZ is off in the belkin

Heading to bed to watch a movie with my wife in a few, so try to get those to me quick :-)

Remove the port forwarding rule from the comcast and then try the port tester again
