The 169.254 is a auto IP the xbox gives itself. Same as windows does if there is no DHCP server.

Something isnt set right and I am not fully sure what the problem is. It should be working. But how it has been working is the repeater is giving the xbox an IP, so the repeater is acting like another router. We don't want that.

Without seeing it myself I am running out of ideas for you to try. I feel it is something simple, but it is hard for me to put my finger on it

Shane ... I ran out of ideas way back!
The company that sold me the TP-link actually advertised it as suitiable for the Xbox, when i contacted them it was clearly obvious they had no idea of how it actually works, so i figure there's no shame in us accepting defeat!  :shy:
If im seeing the problem correctly, once configured the xbox should auto detect the IP & DNS , showing the same IP as the main router?

Im wondering if the problem is in the main router its self? as weve gone over the TP-link in detail.
Would it help if i posted contents of the main router as a last ditch attempt ? or should i attempt some slight adjustment with a large hammer!!  :teeth:

If you can have the xbox connect to eh main router instead (With a network cable)

When the xbox sees a DHCP server it will get its IP info. Since it will be hooked right to the modem it will get its IP from it.

Hi Shane.
As suggested I connected the Xbox up with a cable to the main router and it auto detected the IP & Gateway, but no dns settings, so i put them in manually, but it still wouldnt connect

Then i returned the tp-link to client mode..and hey presto, it worked!

It was so easy, I would suggest this method to all who are struggling with getting their xboxes on line & reading this thread.

Well done Shane, thanks for all your help...TRULY OUTSTANDING ! :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:
