Setting up an email server
« on: December 22, 2011, 03:44:21 AM »
Hi guys
I have set up a web server and trying to get an email server working(using squirrelmail, wamp and hmail.)Whenever i try to send the email i get the following error message.

'The IP you're using to send email is not authorized...'

And the mail is not sent.I have a no ip account which is used for dns hosting.I have tried using the spf wizard there but i am not sure whether it succesfully updated or not. What can i do to overcome this problem.

'The IP you're using to send email is not authorized...'

That means that the SMTP server your using is saying your internet IP isnt allowed to send email through it.

Let me give you an example. Say a big ISP like comcast. They have an email server for their users. Instead of them having to setup username and passwords they have a list of allowed IP's. This way only their customers can use the SMTP server and no one else.

If any one tries they get the same error your getting

Still doesn't answer my question :-)

What settings are you using?

What gmail server, what port, are you using ssl?

And for the incoming email server you have set up what do you have the settings in for it?

I am using ssl.POrt number 465.For incoming mail server i am using POP3 which i think is operating on port 110.Are there any other setting you need to know as i am relatively new to this and my answer may not be to the point.

If you have a gmail account why are you setting up your own email server? Only reason why I ask is depending on what email server software your using it can be a real pain to maintain

What email server software are you using? I can look up some info on it.
