Port Forwarding Not Working
« on: December 03, 2011, 01:42:31 PM »
Been driving me crazy trying to get this to work again.  It worked months ago then quit and I have not tried to get it working again till now and not having success.  Used the lorex program to set the forwarding parameters.  I can get in on my local network but not through the internet.

Router Netgear WNDR3700v2
Lorex L214251 DVR.

Tried some of your solutions on this forum and still no luck.  I am logging in through the client using (mydomainname).strategicvista.net with the DVR password and port 8841 entered.

Posted some screen shots of configs.

In the netgear, go to the basic settings page.

There you will see the WAN IP. Does it match the IP on this page?

OK then it is possible your ISP is blocking port 80. Some do.

So try this. In the DVR change the port from 80 to 8080 save and reboot the dvr.
Then go to the port forwarding page in the router and change the rule from port 80 to 8080

Once done let me know and I will try to connect.

Okay I changed it to 8080, still no luck, I can still get in on my local after changing everything but still no internet access.  I checked the old port # before I changed it and now the new one at http://canyouseeme.org/ and it verified they were open.  Thanks

Try rebooting your DVR.

I did a port scan to you and port 8080 is open. Yet the page wont load.

Once rebooted let me know and I will try to connect.

Very odd. When I try to connect to you on port 8080 I get a waiting for...
If I try any other port it just says connecting.

So it is connecting on port 8080 but isnt getting anything back.

And it loads locally for you fine?

Yes, loads right up locally, no problems.  Running the test in the DVR also results in success...usually, not always.  When it worked many moons ago it would actually never pass the DVR test and I called Lorex about it and they said don't worry about it because it still worked.  Then it quit some time ago and I just thought I'd try to get it working again.

Lets try something else.

Set the DVR IP to static and put in this info

IP: 192.168.1.250
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 192.168.1.1

Then update the port forwarding rule to point to 192.168.1.250

Then reboot everything

Okay all changed and rebooted.  Seems to be same result, I can still get in locally on 192.168.1.250 but no internet access.  Thanks

You have done everything correctly. The port forwarding rules look good and we have both confirmed that port 8080 is open.

Yet the DVR still isnt taking. I think it might be time to give lorex a call
