TCP port updating failed
« on: November 21, 2011, 01:19:56 AM »
Hi, so i am using simple port forwarding to host a minecraft sever for me and my friends to play on. after going through the steps on the check list. every thing checks out until i get to the last step(step 7 testing the ports). when running the tes my TCP port says that it failed but the UDP port is successful. i have also linked the video i am following for instructions incase that helps. Thank you

Jamie

I have another user with the same problem. TCP fails yet UDP passes.

What antivirus do you have installed? I want to see if it is the same thing for both of you.

The port forwarding rule looks fine.

IN the netgear go to the basic settings page. There you will see the WAN IP. Does it match the IP on this page?

Also who is your ISP? The other person I am helping, I am wondering if their ISP is blocking TCP ports. So I want to see if you both have the same ISP.

Well they do block some ports

Try setting up a different port forwarding rule, say port 1979 and test it for me

Im not 100% on how to do that so correct me if this isnt what you asked for. on step 4 of the check list i did what i did before, but named them test and test2 and set the incoming and outgoing ports to 1979 and both fail.

Go to the port forwarding page in the router and post a screen shot :-)
