I'm Sure You're Probably Sick of Minecraft Problems, But...
« on: November 12, 2011, 12:06:39 PM »
Sorry, but I’m really sick of trying to solve this. I can see that you have solved a lot of problems with Minecraft Servers in the past, so I am hoping you could help me.

I can get my server to run over LAN, but not WAN. I am using Windows XP. My router is a Linksys WRT54G, router is a Ubee D3.0. I know how to port-forward and have done so on 25565 (or attempted to), which if you didn’t know is the port that the Minecraft Server runs on. I checked if the port was open using your port tester page at http://www.pcwintech.com/port_test.php, and it says that it is not open, even when I have the server running. Also, my WAN IP from my router is the same one as on that page.

Can anyone help me?

Use my port tester, not just the tester page
http://www.pcwintech.com/simple-port-tester

Post a screen shot of the results and also a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router.

Unfortunately, my computer doesn't really want me to take screenshots right now, but I can tell you that it failed.

I need both screen shots.

Hit the prtscn button on your keyboard. Open paint, edit then paste. Save it as a jpg and post it :-)

No, I know how to do it, it just won't work for whatever reason. Could you tell me what information you need?

Seeing the screen shots will let me check over everything. I have had lots of people tell me one thing but the screen shots show another. So it is always best for me to see for myself and I can tell if anything is out of whack

There is no personal info on those pages. Local IP's cant be accessed from the net, so the info is safe.

Hmm, okay. I'll try to find something online which will allow me to take a screenshot, as the normal method isn't working...

Be back in a bit

Okay, found a nice program called ScreenHunter which allowed me to take this.

The internal IP of the host computer is 192.169.1.20. The others that say Minecraft are other failed attempts which I haven't cleared out.

You cant forward the same port to more than one device. And in those rules you have the minecraft port going to others.

So clear out the rules. Put in the minecraft rule and close minecraft before running my tester. Also make sure DMZ is off in the router as well.

Thank you, but unfortunately, it still doesn't like it.

I cleared out my ports and made sure that the host wasn't in a DMZ, but it still refuses to connect.

Did the port tester program still say port in use?

Well, I was just about to check it, but now it comes up with this error message:

"Component 'UniBoxVB12.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

So, I decided to check the online one, and it still says it's closed.

Reinstall the port tester. Do not check online. Something has to be listing and answer the connection or it will fail no matter what. For some reason minecraft doesn't answer.

My port tester opens the port and listens on it and answers the connection attempt from my site. This is why you need to close minecraft first and why it said port in use last time

Yeah, I tried reinstalling it before I posted earlier, but it still had the same error message.
