No port forwarding (WAN) and lost local (LAN) too...
« on: October 29, 2011, 05:55:49 PM »
Please HELP! This really isn't Rocket Science, but I am at a loss.
Have a Lorex LH1140 that I just bought and set up, a Belkin F5D7230-4 router (in the Lorex Wizard software list) and am using IE8.
Did the quick setup and had LAN access then ran the Auto Port software and DDNS and have lost all.
The router does not see the DVR, which has now fixed it's DHCP Gateway IP address as 198.168.001.001 - but the router's address is 192.168.2.1. The DVR is listing the DNS 1 as X.X.2.1. I have tried to set a static address on the DVR to fix it - no luck.
I belive this is why I can't see it on my LAN, therefore if the router doesn't see the DVR my WAN is gone too, right?
All this happened after the DVR did it's restart after the update router and DDNS step. I was never able to get the test connection to work either.
I have rebooted all numerous times and removed the port forwardings, but no luck.
H-E-L-P!

Post 2 screen shots for me.

1. A screen shot of the network setup page int he DVR
2. A screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router

Lets go from there

Thanks Shane.
Sorry @ the jpg's, but I am on my laptop and have time constraints.
Here are the Router port forwarding page (1125) and the DVR Network setup (1127).
I also took a shot of the system info page if needed.
As you can see, the DVR is set to 192.168.1.1 for the gateway. Shouldn't it point to 192.168.2.1, the Router's address?
The router doesn't see the DVR anymore either.
At least the camera system is working. Was just hoping to view over the net when away.
Been working on this for the last four days.
Thanks again,
-Rich

I think you have 2 routers set up. Lets confirm that first.

Log into the belkin. Ont he first page you will see the WAN ip address. Does it match the IP on this page?

Yes it does Shane.
I have 1 router and 1 hub in my network.
The Belkin and a old Linksys hub.
The DVR is connected directly to the Belkin router which is connected to my Modem.

A hub isnt a router. But the modem might be.

Do as I posted and let me know

At a lose why the DVR is getting the wrong IP info.

Do this.

Set the DVR network to static IP and put in this information

IP: 192.168.2.250
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.2.1
DNS: 192.168.2.1

Once the DVR is set with the static info reboot the DVR.

Then update the port forwarding rule in the router to point to 192.168.2.250

Done.
I had done this yesterday, I just didn't use the 192.168.2.250 addresses.
The DVR is statically set as requested and has restarted.
DDNS is enabled and on the DDNS setup page, I still have the message;

"Update Unsuccessful! code 5.
at 2011-10-30 19:45:13
Connect IP server out of time!"

Auto port forwarding is also enabled.
The router seems fine, it sees my laptops on the LAN and WAN is working great, just doesn't see the DVR.
It seems the DVR is locked into that 192.168.1.1 gateway in DHCP.
This all happened on the first reboot after I used the Lorex easy connect software and the DDNS setup from the webpage.
Thoughts?
Thanks.

My Lorex easy connect software doesnt touch the DNS.

On the DDNS I have no clue why your getting that error. You did make an account first correct?

Login to the router and on the main page that shows status get me a screen shot.

No need to do it with your camera.

Just hit prtscn key on your keyboard, open paint, go to edit then paste. Save it as a jpg

Sorry if it seemed I was blaming the Lorex.
I am beginning to think my DVR may be bad.
I used the software because it is easy to use and does the job.
I read up before doing it.
Here is the screen shot;

Thanks,

Yeah the fact that the DVR is auto grabbing the wrong Ip info shows it might have a problem.

I am trying to connect to you and it still isnt working. Also make sure DMZ is off in the router

Yes, DMZ if off.
I still don't see the DVR on the Router client list page.
It was there before all this with a host name of "null".

Can you verify that the network cable from the dvr is plugged into what port on the belkin?

Yes Shane, the DVR is plugged into port number 2 of the available 4 networking ports on the router.
The WAN port has the cable from the Modem as required.
Thanks.
