Cleanmem 2.3.0
« on: October 12, 2011, 05:09:50 AM »
Cleanmem v2.0.0 has been running on my laptop for a while and up to now it didn't show any weird behaviour anymore. The additional check, that was introduced in this version, seems to work, seems to do its job. The mini monitor and the monitor settings window don't pop up any where ""outside"" my laptop screen any more. So, thumbs up for CLEANMEM v2.0.0 !!!  :cheesy:

Just wanted to let you know. Didn't visit this website/forum for a while.

Here's an improvement suggestion for the GUI of CM 2.3.0.  Nothing big. Grey out the subordinate fields under the ""Automatically start at Windows startup"" option in the ""General"" tab, when this particular option is unselected. If you want to include that then please do it now then it's ready for when the next CM version is released. (no need to hurry !!).

I did another test with CM. I completely disabled it but l had the mini monitor still running and it showed that memory usage was - on average - much higher. It's still working !!! One gets used to such a nice program.

I recently noticed two things that can be improved in the next CM version:

1. When I wanted to add ""iexplore.exe"" (internet explorer 8) to the ""add advanced monitor rule"" then the button on the right to the box where one has to enter the name of the process displayed some three characters (two were readable but the third was unclear what character it was). Previously there was a different symbol on that button.
2. when I wanted to close the window (see above, in bold italics) it crashed CM, CM was closed and Windows XP showed the usual message: ""Do you want to report this error ?"".

3. Can you modify the text/subject of this thread to ""Cleanmem 3.0"" ??

1. Of course, you're right. Yes, rename the thread to ""Cleanmem 2.3.0"". My mistake.
2. I tried something else. I added two processes (iexplore.exe (IE 8) and explorer.exe) to that specific window. In both cases CM allowed me to add the two processes but when I click on both ""OK"" and/or ""Cancel"" then the error/the crash occurs. So, the error occurs AFTER adding the rule. I'll see whether other options in the ""advanced Window"" cause an error as well.

I have one screenshot. See attachment. See inside the red circles. I don't know whether I can ""catch"" the second error because it happens so fast. I'll try something else. To be continued.

As mentioned before, I use XP SP 3.

Weird. I added six rules and removed them again but no error/crash occurred. I only recently installed the program and I copied the old settings file from the CM v2.2.0 to the CM v2.3.0 folder. Perhaps that could have caused the error ?? Or is this a registry related issue ?? I'll see whether this occurs again in the coming days when I change the values again.

But that strange text on those two buttons remained. See the red circles in the picture in the previous post.

Thanks for the screen shot. I replaced the standard buttons with custom ones. The new buttons I forgot to put the graphic back on show it shows the standard text instead.
I have fixed that.

It might be the buttons causing the crash, had it happen on another program of mine. Yet it isn't crashing for me.

Let me know how it goes for you. I will put out 2.3.1 after I hear back from you.
