I changed the port forwarding rule in the router to 3 also.

OK I tried to connect and it didn't work. So lets check a few things.

Get me a screen shot of the port forwarding page again.

We know port forwarding works since you test ports to your system.

Lets try something else.
Put the IP of the camera into the DMZ in the router, save and then restart the router.

Then send me a message of your internet IP and I will try to connect

I still cant connect and everything looks good.

So since every single port should be open to the camera lets try a ifferent port in the camer. Change the camera port to 8080 and let me know and I will try to connect to it.

Shane, I opened the 8080 port and enabled remote management of my router but I cannot connect to it. If you get it to connect, let me know and I will send you the u/n and p/w privately so you can poke around. I have connected a computer and external hard drive to this camera and am recording to the hard drive. I just can't connect externally. I don't know why. I can't ping the address either externally. Something is blocking this still.

I cant even connect to port 8080.

Lets try something basic, yet helps a lot of times.

Unplug the modem and the netgear. Plug the power into the modem first, wait for it to come fully back online then plug in the netgear.

Lets see how it goes then

Shane,

I FIXED MY CAMERA!!!!! YAY!!!. Guess what? I am an idiot. I have this setup in the basment of my building. The basement has no electrical outlets in it so I have set up a menagerie or extension cords and power strips to provide lighting throught the basement. Well, the router, camera and modem are all plugged into a power strip that was fed by an outlet in a light socket. Everytime I left the building to go home, I turned out the lights! Of course when I got home nothing worked and I was befuddled. I realized my idiocy today when I went down there and had to change a bulb. Needless to say I am an idiot. I came home today and it works fine. I can now move ahead with  other cameras but first need to install a few outlets in the basement!. I cant continue to leave the lights on all the time.

Thank you sooooo much for all of your assistance and patience. I would imagine you haven't heard a solution this crazy. I now know so much more about this.

Thanks again!!!!!
