Must be a new one-Motorola NVG 510 issues
« on: September 29, 2011, 01:44:46 PM »
AT&T tech just put in this Motorola Modem/router. All the machines can get on and it's the most plug and play I've dealt with in a while - Except....
Issue is, I'm not familiar with the different pages they show in setup. I've opened ports in many a router to alloy the my DVRs access, but this router seems complicated to me. And the things I look for in opening ports in past routers aren't finding familiar pages. Anyone using this router yet, and had success?

First I would like to get it added to my Simple port forwarding program. SO let me paste what I give people who need a router added

Quote
I can get it added for ya :-)
Download my router screen capture program http://www.pcwintech.com/router-screen-capture

Use it to view every page in the router, I need them all. Then once you get those to me I can get your router added, screen shot page, and the guides written :-)

Also if you can also post a screen shot of any page I can see if it looks like one I have seen.

I've uploaded the pages with your screen capturing software. Pretty slick, I might say.
After my attempts at opening 80 and 9000, I was convinced they didn't want ports opened the traditional way since it is a combined modem/router. So I called them. They wanted $. I sent none :)
So some of the pages I sent have been altered from factory defaults.

I see the port forwarding services and the firewall. You can port forward. You made the mistake of putting in an IP for the source IP, that should be blank.

If you got all the pages I will get your router added to the program

I removes the source IP from that setup. The port test still says fail, even for port 80. Hope you can sort it out.

I will be doing my daily batch of routers in the morning and will be getting yours added.

I will email you when it is ready. I don't normally do routers on the weekend as I try to use that time to be with my wife and kids

Has anyone figured out how to create an Open NAT for this router. I have been searching for days to find a way and learn how, but I realize its never simple or easy. Assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, from those who have the time and will.

I added it to the Simple Port Forwarding program and still waiting to hear if it works. You can try it for me as well :-)

Alright so here's the scoop.

I got a lot of this,

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b394/kairian/Untitled-10.png

But all the ports I asked to be forwarded to the right IP did still get added. They all appear there.

Problem is I still get a 'Moderate' allowance setting when I turn on my device again. I did try a bunch of problem solving and deductive reasoning with the page on possible problems, but nothing seems to work.

Correct, that's what it seems to be anyway. I searched to make sure I had the right ports and I did. I check the IP on my device and they match, my router is showing the ports and the IP all settings on the Custom page. But it is not working, even after a restart of the router and my device.

I am going to need to take a look at it in action. Send me an email, we will get on msn, yahoo or gmail chat. I will connect to you and get the script working, which will also let me make sure the port forwarding is working as well
