How to run?
« on: September 15, 2011, 11:12:16 PM »
This is probably a stupid question but I can't figure it out. I installed CleanMem 2.2 (32 bit) and it appears to have installed correctly. It's in the scheduler to run every 15 min. How do you run the Mini_Monitor? When I run it, nothing happens.

Go to the start menu and the cleanmem folder. The mini monitor shortcut is right there

When I do that...Nothing happens.
Start -> Programs -> CleanMem -> "CleanMem Mini Monitor" = nothing happens
Start -> Programs -> CleanMem -> "CleanMem Settings" = CleanMem Settings Wizard runs
Start -> Programs -> CleanMem -> "Readme" = the verson log opens in notepad
Start -> Programs -> CleanMem -> "Uninstall CleanMem" = The uninstaller for CleanMem 2.2.0 runs

The mouse goes busy for about 2 seconds then nothing. It doesn't show up in Task Manager either. Is there an option to log possible startup errors?

Thanks!

Odd, lets try something, delete the Mini_Monitor.exe.manifest file and then try to open it. Let me know how it goes from there

I deleted the file and there was no change. I did manage to see it briefly pop up in the Task Manager before it died. It's hard to catch it though.

Thanks,
Chris

Mini_Monitor.exe

The start menu link "CleanMem Mini Monitor" points to "C:\Program Files\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe"

Regardless if I use the Start Menu or run it directly I get the same results.

Very odd. I wonder if something is killing the exe?

Run it again and after it closes go to the event viewer and see if you see anything on it

Nothing in the Application, Security or System logs that correlates time-wise to it's execution. The virus logs are clean as well.

Very strange, not even an error message.

What is the file size of the exe? At this point I am looking at every area to find out why the exe won't run.

Try deleting the mini monitor settings file next and start it up.

Deleted "mini_monitor_settings.ini" and reran Mini_Monitor.exe. There was no change -- it ran for 1 sec or so (got a busy pointer) and quit.

No new events in the system or virus logs. The ini file did not recreate (if it should have.) I do have VS.NET 2010 installed -- are there any debugging options I could enable on my end?

Since this is an apparent isolated case, I don't think it warrants your continued excellent support.  I'll be more than happy to continue troubleshooting but I also wouldn't want to waste your time on just one badly misbehaving laptop.

Downloaded and installed: vbrun60sp6.exe

No change and nothing related in the regular logs.
