Port Forwarding DSL - 2780
« on: August 26, 2011, 01:28:06 PM »
Ok i want to port forward a game called Terraria.

I am running it and want my friends to connect via hamachi, I assume the problem is because of port forwarding or something to do with internet/firewall options.

But would appreciate some help.

First thing is to get the port forwarding set up.

Two ways you can do this.
1. You can use the free version of my Simple Port Forwarding program www.simpleportforwarding.com
2. You can use one of the generic guides that matches the page in your router
http://www.pcwintech.com/port-forwarding-d-link-routersmodems

Once the port forwarding rule has been done you can test it with my port tester.
http://www.pcwintech.com/simple-port-tester

Once that is all done and if you still have trouble just let me know and we will go from there

I tried that program and it said it had port forwarded (showed it doing progress)
But when i tested it inside the program, it said ports where still closed.

I attached a picture if that is any help?

OK that pictured shows that your not behind another router, good :-)

Now post a screen shot of the results of the port tester, and also post a screenshot of the port forwarding page in the router.
This way I can check if everything is correct

Nope wrong pic

You should be port forwarding top 192.168.1.5 not the hamanci address

So change the rule to 192.168.1.5, then update the router again.

Once it has been added take a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router where the program added the rule.
Once that is done run the port tester (Step 7)

And before you start the port tester make sure to choose the correct IP at the top (192.168.1.5)
Then post a screen shot of the results

The port tester window is step 7 in the check list in the program, not the main window of the program.

Also why are opening 4000 ports? lol Doesn't the game need just one port?

If so then the start and stop port should be 4000 when you do 1 - 4000 it opens all of those.

Ok when i start a server on Terraria it says server is open on port 31337 so i just opened that port and only that port.

Then updated router. After that i did step 7 (test ports) It said listening then after a few seconds it said that it had failed.

Great :-)

Since you changed what port needed to be forwarded I need to see the port forwarding page one more time. Once I see the rule is good then we can start looking at other things that might be blocking it

Oh and make sure the game is closed when you test the port :-)

OK the port forwarding rule looks good. We know your not behind a 2nd router, and I know your using the port tester on the right IP.

So next step, firewall.

What Antivirus / firewall do you have installed?
