SPF Software on DSL-2642B
« on: August 21, 2011, 12:16:35 AM »
Hi, found that [SPF] Software on [DSL-2642B] with[ Firmware v2.10 update] doesn't change anything,
although it's in the router list. Tried just about everything.
The software does not pause long enough to enter username & password.
Shows everything is done when finished, but when I looked inside the router, nothings changed.
Checked with my ISP, [Internode], they don't block ports yet I've still got the same problem with
all routers. Even bought Windows 7 Ultimate just to see if XP-pro was a problem, same thing.
If ANYONE knows of a Router Model which is [PROVEN] to port forward correctly and [WORKS], and is
[Available in Australia], please e-mail it to me and I'll buy it.

Thanks. Les.  les.kirschner@gmail.com

If there is a timing problem with my program I may just need to add a timeout to the script :-)

2 things first.

1. Are you able to log into your router with IE or firefox? (Need to make sure the username and password works)
2. Do you have the right user name and password in the program so that it can log in? If so it may be a timing problem, so if you can post a screen shot as it tries to update the router I can see whats going on and update the script

Hi, yep, login ok.
Username : admin
Password : kirschner
Don't know if the attached file is going to help any.
The program runs as though it knows what it's doing, but when I look into the router, nothings changed.
The login screen just flashes now and then on the right. It would have to stay yhere for some time
to allow someone to log in.

Just rewinding a bit, you said you once saw my cam, but never told me the url.
I tried http://my-ip:80/ but page could not be found. Also 8080, 9001, etc.
Sometimes my IP address sends me into my router login page.
Cam & Server has only ever worked Localhost here in Sydney.

Although I have 4 routers, I'd be willing to buy a well known router which CAN be correcctly
forwarded and is known to actualy WORK.     Les.

PS: if you ever happen to see the cam again, could you PLEASE tell be where ? URL wise.

Its not logging in because of the validate code needs to be entered. My program should be waiting for you to input it but it isnt, so  I need to fix that :-)

I tried connecting to your internet IP http://59.167.xxx.xxx/ and I get a page that says "It works!" but all the other ports fail to work for me.

What other routers do you have?

How could you see a cam without me running one ?
Anyhow, now I'm running it on port 8080.

http://59.167.140.149:8080/

I can't write any cam Java & Html for something I can't see.  :cheesy:

Also, I port forwarded so many modems, yet I only got port 80 & 8080 open, no other.
Doesn't seem to matter what else I try to forward.
Also, 80 is used by the router by default. If I forward 80, it says itll move the router port to
8080, but that's not true, the router seems to stay on 80.
Why did they choose a port which most people need for something else ? Why can't the
router work on some other odd-ball port  ?  Too easy I guess.

Les.

When you log into a web address like www.google.com the default port is 80.

So on routers when you login they use port 80, but only on the local side, you have to enable the remote admin feature to have it use port 80 for the net. Thats why your DVR can use port 80.

But some ISP's block port 80 as well. They dont like people hosting it seems.

But until I update the script for your router, give this guide a read and see if you can get things going with it

I'll just say OK, as though I understand.
Looked at http://www.pcwintech.com/port-forwarding-d-link-dsl-2642b-d-link-firmware/
nothing new there. However, shouldn't something go into [Private IP Address] at the end ?
I'm suposing they didn't provide space there for nothing.  :undecided:
However, I've tried all sorts of IP's there with no obvious effect.
I also updated the firmware on the DSL-2642B. That did nothing either.
Not sure what your [Simple Static IP] does. I'm paying for a static IP.
My ISP [Internode] doesn't mind servers at all, infact, they'll even help a person set one up!
They expect a person to know about routers, port forwarding, and types of servers, etc, and
they don't block any ports.
Mind you, they set up $5000 servers, not the toy I'm trying to run.

"Server IP Address" will be the local IP of the cam
"Remote IP Address" you leave blank, always.

Simple static IP is for setting a static IP on your local computer, has nothing to do with your internet IP

Post a screen shot of the port forwarding page in your router so I can see the rules. Also what is the local iP for the cam?

I updated the script for your router.

Can you update the database int he program and try it?

It should wait at the login and put a box up asking you to login.

Let me know how it goes

Hi, now that my 86 yr old mother's decided to give me a break!
I download SPF program again, updated the routers.
Still the same thing, as soon as I go to put in the username the
screen refreshes, and keeps on refreshing. No chance to enter the info.
Les.

Wonder if I have a timing problem in the script?

Try this, enable debug mode under the advanced menu and try it again. This will let you decide when it will go to the next step. If this work then I just need to add a timeout to the script

OK Shane, program seems to work in debug mode.
I could see the data being entered. So that's the only hitch, when the program starts,
the router screen just keeps refreshing not allowing the login to be entered.

It's smart to have that mode!

However, and there always seems to be a However, the way it enters the info in the router
is the same way as I do, but the cam still doesn't work. I think this problem is not all about Port Forwarding.
Also, I found that none of the ports the program enterd are open accept port 80, I think.

At the moment I'm suposedly running the cam on 8080.

What was the Cams IP you asked ?  don't have a clue. I never knew a USB cam had an IP.  :undecided:

Les.
