Accessing Lorex over Internet
« on: August 13, 2011, 11:25:09 AM »
I have the Lorex camera system setup with Port Forwarding for port 80 on my Linksys modem.  I am, however, not able to access it over the internet from my Dell Laptop with Windows 7.  It goes to the Lorex site, but the ActiveX prompt that should show up (at least the first time) does not come up, so it is just stuck on the Lorex screen.  It never gives me the logon prompt.  It works perfectly from other computers over the internet, even ones with Windows 7, so there is nothing wrong with my Lorex setup.

I have researched ActiveX problems on the internet and do not find anything helpful.  I have run a program "Fix???" suggested in an ActiveX problems site I found, and it found and fixed lots of problems but none of them were ActiveX.  The security system allows for updates, and I have gotten prompts to load other programs.  My security is AVG.

Any suggestions?

I just tried connecting to your internet IP and I am having the same problem as you.

I have seen this before helping another user. What worked for them was downloading the newest firmware for the dvr and once it was installed power cycling the dvr. After that his was working fine

I think it is a bug in their ActiveX control and the newest firmwares have a new control I believe.

Got back to my system so excited today to try your suggestion.  When I click Update Firmware on the DVR, I get the message "No Thumb Drive found", so I assume I must download the firmware to a flash drive.  However, I do not see where to download firmware.  Is it one of those things where I can't see something right in front of my nose?

I left the store, but my model is L?118000.  I can't remember the second letter, but I am positive of the rest.  I will be back there tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much.  Updating the firmware, followed by redoing Port Forwarding and the Lorex DDNS registration did the trick.  I am such a happy camper!!!!!
