Utorrent and its slow speed.
« on: July 16, 2011, 10:41:27 PM »
Hey shane,

Just wanted to get rid of this slow downloading speed, from my best guess my ISP is throttling the download speed. But at night i do get a good speed, is there any way that i can tweak my router settings so that i can get the max speed during day also?

My ports are forwarded, i even try to randomize the port once in a while in utorrent but it didnt help much. Also, my protocol encryption is set to enabled.

Any help will be appreciated :) Thanks!

IF your getting speeds at night but not during the day it is most likely your ISP throttling.

They throttle during the day when more people are using their connection and loosen up at night when more people are off the net.

Once thing you can try is changing the port that utorrent uses every now and then. When a ISP sees a lot of traffic on the same port they slow it down. So every now and then you need to change the port

hey Shane..

Why for the past 2 weeks my utorrent is very slow but only when i downloading 1080p movies?
720p, music or programs still normal at 100kbps + per torrent, max at 200kbps. but 1080p movies, usually only less than 10kbps.

thanks for your help before

Seeders, you need alot of seeders. They are the ones uploading. And if your not uploading your speed will be slower.

Please start a new thread though if you want any advice on it more

Ya, i have set my utorrent to randomize the port on every start.

That might be the problem right there.

If UPnP (Auto port forwarding) isnt working in your router right, then every time yu use a new port the port forwarding rules wont work. Which means no one can connect to you, so you dont upload anything.

utorrent is a reward system. The more you upload the faster you download.
