Vizio XWR100 Warcraft 3 Issue
« on: July 01, 2011, 01:30:41 PM »
The subject is what my router is which serves as both my wireless router and modem. I have been smashing my head trying to figure out how to host games on WC3, I have the game on my laptop, not my desktop. The modem is connected to my desktop so the router is as well. I have tried opening ports on both computers and making static ips for both but I have got nothing to show for it. If anyone is willing to take the time to help me run through what i need to do for just the laptop where I play or both comps, please email me or reply back. All help is greatly appreciated!

No problem :-)

First. Do you want to host the game on your laptop? If so get me the following info.

1. The local IP of the laptop.
2. Post a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router
3. The ports you need open for the game

Lets go from there

OK on the port forwarding page you will click the "more" button

Doesn't look like the page supports port ranges so you will need to make a rule for each port. Have each rule points to .100

Once the rules are done and saved try my port tester on the laptop for those ports and tell me how it goes

Can you post a screen shot of the port forwarding page now that you have added the port forwarding rules? Also, there is no need to quote the entire response if you are replying to the previous comment.

I am off to bed, I will be back in the morning.

The rules look good. So we need to check a few other things.

In the router, find itd WAN or internet IP, does it match the IP here?

Also if your router has a dmz option make sure it is disabled. Let me know if it has any firewall settings as well.

Night!

Then it should be working. So it could be 1 of 2 things.

1. The router is malfunctioning
2. Firewall software on your computer is blocking my port tester program (Most likely)

What antivirus/firewall do you have installed?
