I got failures again.  Does it make a difference whether I have the dedicated server program running or not?  I've tried it with and without and it's failing either way, but it'd still be good to know.

I just noticed that the Linksys firmware is way out of date ... and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same thing with the 2wire, I'm looking into it

Firmware update is a good idea.
Are you using my port tester program on the laptop?

Actually this is a desktop PC, and a USB wireless adapter (a Linksys model), and yes I'm using your Simple Port Tester program.

I am running on 3 hours of sleep for the last 48 hours. Had a customer today with 20 computers, I put in a new server and redid everything. I was there for 22 hours. They are very happy. But I am very burned out. I need to get some sleep.

lets continue in the morning :-)

Did you upgrade the firmware in both devices or just one? I'm just trying to narrow it down.

Well actually 2wire didn't offer a firmware download on their site ... the 2wire 3800 HGV, I think, is exclusively used by my ISP

So it was just a firmware upgrade on the second router, the Linksys e1000 ... firmware was at factory defaults and there was a update from just a month ago available.

Let this be a lesson to anyone searching threads for a solution ... you need to update your firmware on that new Linksys
