If enough dust builds up between the fins on the heat sink then no air can get through to cool.

The cpu gets hotter, in turn your motherboard sees the heat and raises the fan speed, in turn sounds like a jet taking off lol :wink:

Spring cleaning saves the day :-D

Glad to see that you found the problem and that it was an easy fix. If you don't already have some, get a can of compressed air for cleaning out the machine.
