My PC is going HAYWIRE!
« on: June 29, 2011, 08:30:28 AM »
Hello Mr. Shane and Mr. Evan!  Now I have a much more bigger problem. My problem now is that my PC is turning HAYWIRE! First that LAN problem(which I am using my WiFi adapter for the mean time. Thanks though!) Second, my display shuts down then welcomes me with a nice heart warming BSOD!  Then now, I'm having problems with my fan. It keeps blowing like a Jet's intake then it calms down. Then again! (I got it chained up so it won't fly  )
That's what has been happening lately. I hate to think about but it might have something to do with the thunderstorm that struck my PC that fried my LAN.  :undecided:
Hope you can help me. Here are my PC's Spec and what the BSOD had:
Quote
HP p6214y
nVidia GeForce 9100 updated to the latest driver (275.33)
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
BSOD: nvlddmkm.sys

P.S. If I'm on the wrong thread please just move. Thanks!

First thing to do is a power reset.
Unplug the power to the computer, remove the cord. Then try to turn it on a few times. This will drain all the power out and reset the hardware properly.

From there see how things go. If you still have trouble we need to check if you have bad memory or a over heating problem

You can go into the bios and see the temp of the cpu. Check it and let me know what it is.
Also lets do a memory test.
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Do the iso one, burn to a cd and boot off the cd and do the test.

Lets go from there

Hey Shane! The Diagnostic tool is taking FOREVER. It didn't say anything but SUCCEEDED. For the temp., I can't seem to find that option. I will look again after you tell me if it's okay to stop the Windows Tool. Thanks!

Yeah you can stop the memory test. It runs forever till you tell it to stop. So if no errors by now your good to go on the memory.

On the temp, go into the bios and go to the hard ware monitor.

Ah, wasn't paying attention lol

If it is onboard then the temp is most likely wrong.

Next thing to test, do you still have lock ups or crashing in safe mode?

Need to find out if it is windows that has the problem (Drivers) or hardware.

 I don't know what you mean by "in safe mode" I'm using the normal mode right now and I am not experiencing any lock ups or any crashes so far. All I know is that this fan is blowing like a jet!  :omg:

Ok no lock ups right now, but the cpu fan is blowing like mad. Do you have the CPU fan set to auto control?
This is also in the hardware monitor in the bios. (Normally anyways)

Reason why I ask is when the cpu fan is set to auto it will run faster (And of course be louder) when the cpu gets hot.

Your CPU showed 46C, was that with the cpu idle? If so you might have a heating problem.

Thats the part that sucks the most about a system having odd problems. So many different things can cause it that you have to start going through everything.

It was Idle. And I really hate the fact that I can't see anything in my BIOS!  I don't know about the auto speed. I would just guess that it is. It usually doesn't do this. Until those tricky BSOD's.
