AT&T U-verse and port forwarding through two routers.
« on: May 30, 2011, 10:23:56 AM »
Two weeks ago I had AT&T U-verse installed.  Before that, I had a Netgear WNDR3700 router set up with port forwarding.  It controlled my network of two desktops, a laptop, a printer and an all-in-one machine.  In addition, I had Remote Administration, Radmin, installed.  Everything worked fine including Radmin.

AT&T installed a 2Wire 3801 HGV Home Gateway.  With the help of Netgear tech support, I was able to again use the WNDR3700 router.  Everything on the network is operating correctly.

I had to change the outgoing server setting from BellSouth to AT&T Yahoo.  This caused intermittent problems sending emails.  Receiving was fine.  I disabled the firewall on AVG Internet Security.  That seems to have solved that issue.

The only thing left to correct is Radmin.  I cannot not figure how to set the two routers to get port forwarding to work.  I was using DynDNS and operating through port #1256.

Any advice?

Thanks.

I believe I have it set correctly.  The DMZ page actually shows the WNDR3700 router.

Ok good, lets test the port forwarding to make sure it is working right

I would like you to setup a port forwarding rule to your computer. Then use my port tester

If you need to know how to port forward this will help you

Let me know how it goes :-)

OK so lets check all the settings.

First, post a screen shot of the DMZ page in the modem.
Next post a screen shot of the basic settings page in the netgear (This will show me its WAN IP)
Then post a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the netgear.
Then open a command window on your computer and type in ipconfig, post a screen shot of that as well.

With all those I will be able to check all the settings

Hate to sound dumb, but how do I send you screen shots?

Hit prtscn on your keyboard. Open paint, edit, then paste.
Save it as a jpg.
Do this for all 4 screens I need.

Then when posting, look at the bottom of the page for "Attachments and other options"

I had to take two print screen shots on a couple of the pages.

OK your local IP is 10.0.0.2
Did you test the port 1256 on your computer?

Also looking at the screens, it looks like Radmin is hooked to the modem and not the netgear. That could be part of the problem.

In the 2 wire I want you to remove any port forwarding rules for it. Then hook it to the netgear instead. From there we setup the port forwarding rules for it

Attached is what I think is port forwarded on the 2Wire.  This modem/router in not real clear on instructions like the Netgear is.
Should I get rid of this forward?

I did test port 1256 and it failed.

No, keep that one.
In the 2wire, go to the device list. Is the netgear listed more than once?
Also what does it show for the IP of the netgear in the 2wire?

It appears the Netgear is not connected.  The unidentified device is either the tv or phone for U-verse.

OK on that page, put the netgear info the same as the others. Save, then I want you to restart the 2wire by unplugging the power then back in.

Do the same to the netgear.

Then check that page again.

I am not sure what you mean by "put the netgear info the same as the others"?
