Invalid Ip Address??? (Solved)
« on: May 26, 2011, 06:22:25 PM »
So i've been using this program for a good time to port forward ports: 43594 and 555 (for RSPS). and it worked fine. now all of a sudden it says i have an invalid ip address when ever i tell the program to work its magic. Now, im using a NETGEARWRN1000v2 and my ip is 192.168.1.11 (which is a valid ip). But the catch 22 in this is, if i manually put the information it. it works fine but the ports arent open. can someone help

Yes i need it fixed fast.. I have lots of people that play my rsps (its a game) and they are waiting for it to come back online

Do you know if you are behind two routers now?

Also, can you post a screen shot of the error(s) you are getting?

Behind two routers??
I didn't think i'd need a picture of the error because it is so easily described (and i have no program to take the pic  :omg:)
But i'll describe to you the error as best as possible.
1. I open the Simple Port Forward App (shortcut) and let it through my firewall (norton 360 pop-up)
2. I set up the two ports i need forwarded (43594 and 555)(also delete the old ones)
3. tell the program to update router (clicking the update router button)
Then it gets to step 16 (i think) and a little window pops up from the web page and the following message is displayed:
Error from webpage:
Invalid Ip Adress!
(button) Ok
Here is the catch 22:
1. I open internet explorer and go to routerlogin.com (the site my router uses to port forward etc..)
2. log in and thengo to the port forward/ port triggering section
3. making sure there is no already forwarded ports (43594, 5555) i add a custom port
4. fill in all the required information for both ports.
5. hit save then go to canyouseeme.com and check it
then it says the error message that the port isnt open.
Usually it wouldnt display an error when i ran the program.

I wanted to see a pic because it would show me the IP you are using and exactly when the error happens and sometimes that can really help. It is easy to describe but a picture can help a great deal with keeping us on the same page. Posting a pic also shows me what router you select and what steps did work correctly. You can use "Print Screen" in the upper right of your keyboard then paste in MS Paint and upload from there.

If you look at the WAN IP address within your router it should be the same address you are giving to people (found at http://www.pcwintech.com/myip). If it isn't different then you are most likely behind a second router. This usually happens because your modem is also a router.

Let me take a look at the script for the router you are selecting to see what step 6 is.

Can you post a screen shot of the port forwarding page? I want to see what is getting entered. Sometimes there is a error with the firmware and it's just the router not working.

The address you've used is the one you use from your network (the 192.168.1.11) but everyone else needs to use your internet IP.

Im not understanding. I've always used my ipv4 address for the exact same thing im trying right now. it's even the ip address that the program pics up when i tell it to update all with current local ip (a right click option).
Here are 2 more pictures:
the first one (untitled1) is when i manually port forward
the second one (untitled2) is what happens when i use the program

Very odd.
The IP is being put it correctly it looks like. But the page is just not taking it.
Do this, one more pic for me. This time, move the error box down so I can see the IP boxes.
Perhaps the script is missing something and that pic will show me if it is

The script looks like it is doing everything fine.
When you manually add a rule do you use anything besides IE?
My program uses IE to work with the pages. So I am curious. I have the same model router here and just tried and it works fine.
So I am wondering if something else is going on.

I wonder if you have a different firmware than the one I have. Lets try a test, in my program go to the advanced menu and edit script.
Go to script 2.
There remove the commands that start with
set_ip1
set_ip2
set_ip3

Leave the ip4.

Reason why is the router page already has the first 3 on the page. Perhaps it doesnt like them being changed?

Click save script and give that a try.

So looks to be a bug in the firmware in the router. It doesn't like the other IP boxes being touched!

I wonder if there is a firmware update?

But at least we know how to still work around it now

Thanks for jumping in on this one. I had an "incident" with the new born and last a looked everything pretty much looked right on the user's part. I was trying to think of something other than "a bug" but couldn't relly think of anything. It's the first time I've seen this particular error in this fashion.  I'm curious to see if it's isolated to a firmware version.

Well from your updated router list, i saw the same router i had but v3. there might be one but i cant get it because my router searches for one it doesn't show up. Stupid internet.
Do you happen to know anything about java? because the rsps (known as runescape private server) is completely made up of java codes and its hard to do with no guides or formal training.
