Unable to forward ports Cisco Linksys E1000
« on: May 24, 2011, 06:39:32 PM »
My Cisco Linksys E1000 will not save ports. I have hard reset, upgraded firmware, and talked to customer support, but the only thing they offered to do was send me a replacement which i don't want. Please help me.

What happens when you try to save the page? Any error message?

No. When i save the page it says "Settings are successful." and has a Continue button. Once i press the continue button it takes me back to the port forwarding page where the ports that i have entered disappeared and the boxes are now blank.

Just so we cover all the bases, I would like you to try to save the pages with one of those. Also after you save the page and go back to it, make sure to refresh the page, just in case it is loading from cache

It is always possible it is the router. I haven't ran into one that didn't save the settings though.
I do know that a lot of times the save options calls a java script to do the savings.

What version of java do you have installed?
Also I would like to do a test which will confirm if it is the router or something on your machine.

In the linksys you can enable the remote admin. Enable it, message me the username and password and I will log into the linksys from here, setup a port forwarding rule and see if it saves.

If it does we know the router is fine, if it doesn't save then we know it is the router and it needs replaced (Or maybe put DD-WRT firmware on it.)

OK I logged in, set a test port rule on both the single port and port range pages. They seem to have saved. Log in and verify.

If they are there then the router is fine
And the problem will be on your system.

Grab java here

LOL i think i realized the problem when i saw your test entries.. I didn't input anything for the IP address. i just left it at "0" and it doesn't save, however if i change it to "100" it saves.

Yeah one last thing, the ports i'm trying to open are here: http://findports.com/document.php?tag=heroes-of-newerth

Do i put them in single or port range? And do i leave them all at "both" since it's tcp/udp?

Yes port range page, leave the protocol to both, and for IP you will put the IP of your local computer

haha sorry to keep bugging you, but you said for the ip i put my computer's ip.. yet the port range page has "192 . 168 . 1." and then a blank spot, but my ip doesn't start that way so i am not sure what you mean.
