2Wire 2701 & At&t
« on: May 19, 2011, 10:19:49 PM »
Hi Shane!
First of all I would like to commend you and your staff on being such a pillar of support on this board. I'm an EST and my friends call me Droid due to my biased affection for the open source platform. Please forgive the brief introduction but I really need your assistance.I install cctv, access control, fiber, fire, security to name a few...low voltage basically. I have a Q-see dvr along with the 2wire modem/router. Isp: AT&T. I've set up a number of systems but never the 2wire. I can access dvr locally only. I need to forward 3 ports according to the manual 80,9000,10084. Are all these under the same assigned ip address. For instance my dvr address is 192.168.1.67...I've read the last 7 hours...no luck....Thanks in advance.

You are correct. You need to set up port forwarding to have each of those ports pointed to the local IP of your DVR. Are you familiar with port forwarding already or do you need some pointers?

The trick is to test from an outside network.
A lot of routers don't like reverse nat

So the trick is, when on the same network as the DVR you use the local IP of the dvr to access it. When outside the network you use the internet IP.

If you like, PM me the internet IP and I can see if I can connect to it for you
