New router added
« on: May 05, 2011, 10:08:14 PM »
I recently used the Router Screen Capture program to attempt to add my router to your list, but I wasn't sure if I had misread something about needing to go add it on a tools list or something.  After submitting the zip file, is that all the work that needs to be done on my end?  I appreciate your help immensely!  The router model was a Huawei HG521C.  Thanks in advance!

As long as you made sure to view every single page then that is all that is needed. Shane will check the email in the morning and if everything is there he will update the program's list to have your router included.

I got the upload today and checked and you got all the screens :-)
I didn't get to today's batch of routers because I was caught up in other work.

I do plan on having it done tomorrow morning.

But what is nice is your router is the same as some of the others. So they will work for you while I get yours added

Here are some in the program that have the same pages as yours.

Huawei - EchoLife HG510a (OPTCL Firmware)
Huawei - EchoLife HG520c (Vodafone Firmware)
Huawei - EchoLife HG520b (TT Firmware)
Huawei - EchoLife HG520b (TE Data Firmware)
Huawei - EchoLife HG520b (Huawei Firmware)

Any of those should take care of you. I will email you tomorrow when your model is added. I will be using the same script as those ones above, so feel free to try it out

Well I ran into some trouble.

The reason I'm trying to open ports is for a new game that came out about 10 days ago for the iPod/iPad called "Order and Chaos".  A lot of people have been experiencing difficulties logging in, and finally the devs posted ports that need to be opened, which is linked here:

http://onlinegames-forum.gameloft.com/index.php?topic=9641.0

"Login to Game : Port 80
Login to Lobby (Character Creation Screen) : Specific Port between 7000 and 8000 for each server
Online Gameplay : Random port between 32768 and 61000"

I have no trouble with port 80, and using online port check tools it shows that it is open.  I am able to login on the first screen.

As for the next port(s), 7000-8000, when I try to enter these in my router, I get an error message that reads:

"ERROR: FAIL TO UPDATE DUE TO... DUPLICATE PORT NUMBER !"

This error occurred both with me entering it manually as well as when I used your Simple Port Forward software.

Now, for the last ports, a "Random port between 32768 and 61000", this was successfully entered both manually and/or using your software, however, when I checked using your open port check tool (and a couple other similar free checkers), it shows that the ports are NOT open.

Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated!  I have been pretty frustrated by the fact that I paid for the game which includes a subscription fee and I have not been able to play it for 10 days!

OK first off the port tester will be no good to you here. The reason why is the port tester test the ports on your system.

Since the port forwarding is suppose to point to your ipad then the test will fail no matter what.

So here is what you do. Go into your ipad settings and go to network. It should give you the local IP that it has.
Now open the port forwarding page in your router and update the rules to point to the ipad IP

Then try your game.

About to take a shower and head to bed. Let me know how it goes.

My iPad IP is 192.168.1.3, which I updated in the Simple Port Forwarding program, but still had the exact same problem.  I got the same error message for 7000-8000, 32768-61000 was successful, but still shows being closed using the open port check tool.  Get some sleep and we'll deal with this manana!

Edit:  I just realized I misunderstood you.  I should try to open those ports and then try the game.   However, I foresee it not working because if I'm getting an error message from trying to open ports 7000-8000 and unable to do so, then I shouldn't be able to login regardless.

Like I said don't do the port tester any more! it will fail no matter what. It is for testing port forwarding to your computer.
Your not forwarding to your computer your forwarding to your ipad

So again, no more port tester for this one lol

Go ahead and try the game now, if it still doesn't work, port a screen shot of the port forwarding page in your router and I can double check the rules.

So after looking at my virtual server listing, I realized that I hadn't spotted a port open at the bottom.  The number is 7547, which I'm assuming has to be the port I need for the game!  That has to be the reason I got the "duplicate port error" number.

Screenshot:

http://prntscr.com/1u3lw

The problem is, the IP is set to 192.168.1.1, which is obviously not the IP of my iPad.  I tried to edit it by selecting number 12 on the rule index, but alas, there is no number 12!

Screenshot:

http://prntscr.com/1u3m9

I have a feeling if I could just edit that, it would solve the problem (hopefully).  Any suggestions?

Well I gave this some more thought (I live in Thailand so whilst you were sleeping I was troubleshooting) and I was thinking that maybe port 7547 has nothing to do with my game, and maybe it's there for some other reason and perhaps it's just a coincidence that it's in the range I'm having to work with (7000-8000).

So, what I tried was opening ports 7000-7546 under one rule, and 7548-8000 on another which looks like this:

http://prntscr.com/1u45a

When I was at the same connecting screen that I've been up against this whole time, I got a new error.  Users have reported getting either an error # 30003, 30002, or 30001.  This whole time I had been getting 30003, but this time for the first time I got 30002.  It said "Connecting...." longer than it normally does, which heartens me a little bit.  At least this is the first evidence of what I'm tinkering with has shown an impact on my iPad.  Still not able to connect though.  I'll keep tinkering.

Edit:  I tried connecting again after posting this and I'm getting the error # 30003 again.  Back to square one.

First off, I am curious about this ipad game that needs port forwarding. When a user isn't using wireless and is on the cell network there are no options for port forwarding, so how are users to play?

What I want to do is confirm that port forwarding is working in the router.
I want you to make a port forwarding rule, for any port, say 1979 and have it point to your computers local IP.

Now that we have a rule pointing to your computer I want you to use my port tester and test that port.
Does it work? then the router is working fine and so is port forwarding.
Does it fail? then something is still blocking ports in the router and we need to dig deeper

The game is Wifi only, so it cannot be played otherwise.  It is the first MMORPG for the iPhone/iPad (very similar to World of Warcraft), so there is no offline mode.

I tried opening port 1979 (which worked using your software), but it does not show that it's open with your port forward tester.  So I suppose something else is blocking it.

Then that is what we should focus on first. Getting the port forwarding working to your system.

So first lets make sure your not behind a 2nd router or 2nd network from your ISP.
In the router find the WAN status. Fine the WAN or Internet IP.
Does it match the IP on here?

Under Basic > WAN Setting > IP Address it doesn't show an IP address, simply that it "obtains one automatically".
