Port Forward Problem
« on: May 05, 2011, 06:55:45 PM »
I recently tried to set up a server for Minecraft using Simple Port Forwarding.  I came across an error while doing so.  My port will not open.  One common solution that I saw was to add the server to Windows firewall manually.  I, unfortunately, do not know how to do so.  I checked my port using PFPortChecker, but it says that my port is not open or not reachable.  If anybody has any ideas or solutions, they would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

I don't support PFPortChecker as it isn't my program, so make sure to use my port tester while I help you

First lets see if the rules got added to the router.

Get me 2 screen shots.
1. a screen shot of the main window of my simple port forwarding program.
2. A screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router.

I will be able to check the rules with those screen shots and see what needs to be done next

Just click the view/remove ports button. That will open the page for you.

Thats why the ports where never added, you have to have the password for the program to work

Well, I called Linksys and they told me the best they could do was to have me manually reset our router.  I probably won't respond for a few days as i will have to complete the reset maybe tomorrow. For now, thank you for your help.

Once you are able to log in give the program a try again. After it adds the ports it has a port tester to test it (Step 7)

Let me know how it goes

I know this is a longshot, but did you try the default username and password for your router?

Yeah you will need to do a factory reset on it to put it back to defaults

All right.  After 2 hours of painful discussion with people who have slightly difficult to understand accents, I finally got it.  Heres the router screen.

Have you tested yet to see if your server is working now that you were able to update the router?

So, i was wondering if you guys know any more about setting up a Minecraft server as I have come across a few more problems.  One of these is the IP for the server.  Help me if you wish.
