Problem with port forwarding - updating the router
« on: April 04, 2011, 01:20:46 PM »
Hi
i am new to port forwarding so i hope you dont think this question is weird!
i started using simple port forwarding today, and filled in all the things needed in steps 1-4.
in step 5, update the router, eveverything goes ok until i get a pop-up box that says" "send to LAN server" must be the same network segment with the LAN network IP"

i have no idea what this means!
does anyone know what it means and how i can remedy it?

thank you!

Were the rules added to your router at all? If they were can post a screen shot of the router's page showing the rules and also of the main window of Simple Port Forwarding?

The more info I have the faster I can get you fixed up

Update the router in my program again, when it is done and the window is open take a screen shot and post it here. This will let me see what is going on and if I need to update the script or not

You of course :-)
When you update the router you will see the log on the left of the window as it works. Also get me that screen shot.

I have to leave to a customers and get a few machines fixed, so if you hurry I can get you fixed up before I head out

Ah, the script looks fine. I think I see the problem.

Your router is on the IP range 192.168.0.1 Yet your trying to port forward to 192.168.1.2

So the router is saying you cant forward to that IP because it is on a different range.

So what we need to do is check a few more things.

First in the main windows of my program in the upper right, it says what your local Ip is (It was covered in the screen shot) What does it say?

There you go

IN the main window of my program, double click the port forwarding rule in the list to edit it.
Change the IP to 192.168.0.2 and click save.

Then try updating the router again
