I think I found some bugs in CM version v2.00:

A number of things remain greyed (grayed ??) out.
-- In the tab ""Monitor Settings"": ""Change Bar Fill Graph"", the text under ""1st Text ....."" and ""2nd Text ......"".
-- In the tab ""Advanced Monitor"":
""Auto Run Monitor"" and ""Advanced Monitor Rules"".

Are these things bugs ??? Did I overlook something ?? I have installed both v1.70 and v2.00. Are these ""bugs"" the result of a clash of both versions ?? (e.g. registry settings ??) I would think that both versions store their settings in a separate folder. At least the version v2.00 I installed allows the user to choose the installation folder for v2.00.

One suggestion:
-- Add a ""Restore to default settings"" button. (In the ""General"" tab ?).

Greyed out means the pro features are locked. But your suppose to have the pro features unlocked for 7 days.

Was the date on your system off or anything when you first ran CleanMem 2.0? Need to confirm the 7 days unlock is working correctly :-)

On mine it shows 5 days left and everything is still unlocked.

And yes you can have both versions. All settings are stored in a ini file and not the reg.

Right now to restore to default you close the mini monitor, and then just delete the mini_monitor_settings.ini file.

I double checked a few things and found that the controls stay greyed out on the first run and some other minor bugs with it. I fixed those and updated the setup.

Go ahead and redownload the setup and reinstall, you should have the new version.

Let me know how it goes.

Yes, now those options, as mentioned above, aren't greyed out anymore the first time I ran CM v2.00. Perhaps I'll come across some more bugs but that takes more time.

Yeah when you told me they where greyed out I went and checked. They all where fine. So I reset it to a fresh install and sure enough on the first run they where disabled. Close it and reopen and they worked.

So I fixed that. Also the settings during the 7 days where not holding and reverting back to defaults for the pro features. I fixed that as well :-)

After 7 days the pro features will disable. Every thing that was in CleanMem Mini MOnitor 1.7.0 is still enabled and free, and even a few extra options

I hope you like it bud.

1. When I delete the *.ini files will the 7 day trial period start again ???
2. About the colors of the system tray icon: Make, right after installation, bright colors only the default situation, instead of those ""dark"" colors. It makes the default black digits stand out better.
3. No, I didn't turn the date off on my laptop. Would turning off the date fool the CM daycounter ?

No lol. Would defeat the purpose of the 7 day trial is a person could reset it lol.

They are darker for 1 reason. Bright monitors. My monitors are rather bright, have to turn down the brightness. And bright colors on a bright screen hurt the eyes. (At least to me) So I went, by default, a little darker, still easy to read and better on a bright monitor. Not to mention some monitors shows the colors differently than others. Some make colors rather vibrant, and thus a little bit of an eye sore on bright colors.

Nope, changing the date won't work. The program looks if the date has been changed or not.

I didn't want to do a 7 day trial on the pro. Mainly because it isn't the easiest to protect against date resets and such. But I wanted the users to get to try the pro features to see if they want or needed them before they buy. This way a user is sure.

More suggestions\thoughts concerning for CM v2.00:

Grey out every option that hasn't been selected:
In the tab General:
--- Grey out the entire section from ""Current:"" up to ""Global Hotkey"" when the user hasn't ticked the box ""Show memory ......... "".
--- Same story for ""Global Hotkey"".

In the tab ""Monitor Settings"":
--- Grey out ""change bar fill"" when the option ""Use this bar fill"" hasn't been selected.
--- Grey out one or more fields under ""(Applies to monitor)"" when one or more options haven't been selected.

In the tab ""Advanced Monitor"":
--- Grey out the subordinate fields when one or both options haven't been selected. (""Auto Run Cleanmem"" and ""Advanced Monitor Rules"")

Move the option ""Show mini monitor"" from the ""Monitor Settings"" tab to the the tab ""General"" and don't allow the user to change the settings in the ""Monitor settings"" tab when this box hasn't been selected. because all the options in this tab are subordinate to the ""Show Mini Monitor"" option. Then this option (""Show mini monitor"") in ""General"" needs additional explanation as well.

Under ""Color Presets"": when the user hasn't selected anything then I think the text ""None"" or something like that (""Default Colors"" ???) should be displayed. Now initially that field/space is blank.

There's something puzzling: when I ask CM to show process information it nearly always displays the same ""Creation date"' e.g. august 3, 2011. Are these processes still to be created on this future date ???

I just checked every process on my system and each one has a creation date between the time I booted the system and now.

Does your system report the correct date under date & time?

I know why the date is off for him. This happens every time I use any kind of formatting on dates.

It is taking my date format (In the US) and when it takes a format from another country, where they have the day before the month it throws it off

FormatDateTime(sTime.wMonth & "/" & sTime.wDay & "/" & sTime.wYear, vbLongDate) & " at " & FormatDateTime(sTime.wHour & ":" & sTime.wMinute & ":" & sTime.wSecond, vbLongTime)

That is the code I have to format the date, as you can see I have it putting the month first. On his system date it is the day that is first. Thus his shows August.

What I have to do is remove the formatting. I will work on that today as I look over his other suggestions and reply to them here in a bit.

Been a busy morning so far

I live in ""a speck of dust on the map of Europe"", called the Netherlands, across what the british call ""the big fishpond"" (tongue in cheek) a.k.a. the Atlantic Ocean. If you use GOOGLE Maps you can find it !!! And yes, over here in continental Europe we use a different date format i.e. dd-mm-yyyy. Yes, that would explain why CM doesn't display the right date. CM also thinks that a small number of processes are created on january 1st, 1601 !!! Weird !!!

I am experiencing another disturbing problem. It seems CM fails to remember the changed color and the changed font size used by the system tray icon and it reverts back to the default settings when I restart my laptop. It seems (!!!) CM fails to store those settings or is my old HP laptop (bought in the year 2004) to blame ?

I think you should also consider having "random" displayed as the color preset when choosing random color presets, much the same as Wily suggested having "default" selected instead of a blank drop down.

I think Shane should check every CM option whether or not CM stores that optio in the *.ini file.
