Unable to access homepage on WAMP server
« on: January 27, 2011, 07:12:43 AM »
Further to my post over at the Port Forwarding forum which resulted in the successful opening of a Port to host the WAMP server, post can be found here  -  http://bit.ly/fjaFXH

I am now unable to access my homepage by entering the router IP address into the browser.   Doing so results in error messages, Firefox gives me "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 121.z.zz.zz:8080", Windows Network Diagnostics says "The remote device or resource won’t accept the connection”.

When I type in localhost into both browsers, the homepage shows up fine.

Any suggestions on solving the connection problem would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like you are trying to access your server using your public IP address while you are on your private LAN. In that case your problem is that your router won't let you go out onto the web and back again...it's basically just being smart.

Yeah sounds like a simple reverse nat problem.

Just PM me your internet Ip and I can try to connect and see if it works for you

Thanks!

Tested the router to check if it supports Reverse NAT and it does!  Attached result.

Ok, so now the Homepage is still not displayed (which is expected).

What would my next step(s) be in making the Homepage display?

OK port 8080 looks to be working fine. Check your server program and check its settings. Perhaps it is something in there
