Hey bud,
Thought I would let you know I am working on a new little free tool for my tool box page your friend might like.
Its called Kill Frozen Program.

What it will do is have a global key you can hit on your keyboard. When you hit it, the program will look for any program that is not responding and kill it.

I am making this for gamers like myself who sometimes have a game crash but wont go to the desktop. And since it covers the whole screen nothing you do can get it to go away. Then you have to reboot.

With this new tool of mine you will be able to kill the game when that happens and avoid having to reboot

Its a simple program, that's why it is going on my toolbox page :cheesy:

Hey Shane,

It sounds like a great little program to add to the arsenal.... :cheesy:

Although optimally it's far better not to have the game go south on us at all during a round as that results in a disqualification from that round by the launcher. We then have to request a reset for that round from the PGAX administrators via a help desk ticket, whereupon we are then penalized +10 srokes which is added to our final score for that round...

Furthermore we are only allowed one reset per tourney, so if anyones game crashes twice in any 4 round tourney (say game crashes in rnd 1 and then again in rnd 4) that player is consequently dq'ed from the entire tourney....Yikes and Ouchville!!

This new reset rule was imposed by the PGAX administrators because some people were constantly abusing the previous reset rule of unlimited, free, no penalty resets that were awarded due to game crashes, network failures etc. In other words if they were having a bad round they would just shut down their game/s, get the DQ from the launcher and then request a reset and replay that round merely to achieve better results....SOB's

Unfortunately it was one of those cases where the nefarious act/s of the few (cheaters) has ultimately, negatively affected the rules of play for all....

But in any event, as I said in my opening statement it sounds like an excellent new program and I'm sure it will be most appreciated by gamers far and wide, hopefully resulting in some just rewards for yourself....

I will indeed pass it along, not only to my buddy having the TW08 game crash issue/s but to the entire PGAX community, many of whom play a variety of other online games as well....

Keep up the good work bud.....Cheers!!....Jeff

Oh btw....My friend played 3 solid rounds through the launcher this last tourney week with no crashes using Game Booster, although the games were apparently a bit shuddery(or as he put it "juddery"), which now leads me think it might be a program he has installed on his computer interfering with his internet connection....So it's still a work in progress....??

I will let you know when the new tool is done

If the game was still shuddery then it may not be a program causing problems. The game sounds like it was still limping along at certain times. Having other programs and other things off might have helped the hardware more, like the video card, not have to work so hard.

As Evan said before, did your friend try turning down all the settings in the game to the lowest to see if it smooths out?

It is possible it might be time for a new video card as well. I had one game a while back that was one of very few games that just wouldn't work for me. I ended up getting a ATI 5750 HD card and haven't had a problem with a single game since.

Some games simply don't work well with some cards. It might of worked with his card in the past, but a game update could have broke that.

Kill Frozen Programs is done and on my toolbox page
http://www.pcwintech.com/shanes-toolbox

This was a simple quick program I made, thus why it is on my toolbox page. If I ever make it into a full blown app then I will give it a page of its own.

Hope you find it useful

Shane, I want to talk to you about how you are doing this when we both get a chance. If it works the way I want it too...then it should be very good.

Hey Shane....Well I tried to share the wealth of your toolbox link on the PGAX forum but I guess the somewhat noses-up-in-the-air administrators there thought it was a solicitation even though I clarified in the post that it wasn't at all, stating your apps are all free and they (the apps),or at least some of them, could very possibly be useful to any number of the members there, as many of them play a variety of online games other than TW08. Of course I also mentioned the apps you've created that could be useful tools to negate/address computer/software issues....But I see the post has been deleted....

I've only been a member of the PGAX for a couple of months but I've noticed, far too many times in my relatively short tenure there, that the admin's on the site are all too quick to censor and/or delete any posts they find distastful (goes against their individual sense of morality) or might be helpful to other members if it's not directly related to the TW08 golf game itself.....Even then it's tenuous if it's not offered/suggested by one of the upper echelon staff members.

Oh well, in any event Shane, I tried but I guess the old adage of "you can lead a thirsty horse to water but you can't make him drink" holds true in this case, or maybe an even more appropriate twist on that adage might be "you can lead a thirsty horse to water but if you encroach on his territory, watch out, as he'll likely (as cartman says) kick you in the nuts"....lol

It's just a shame imho that so many others there have to lose out due to the fickleness of a handful of egotistic power trippers...

Once again....Keep up the good work bud!!....At least "I know" where to go when and/or if I need something of value in the way of a better gaming and/or computing experience........Cheers....Jeff

Wow...that has to be more than a bit frustrating.  We make it a point to only mess with people's post if it is obvious spam (Viagra ads for instance) or if they put stuff like their email address. In that case we remove it for them to prevent them from possibly being spammed.

Regarding his game though...is everything working to your/his satisfaction?

Hey Evan....He's hoping the issue has resolved itself as he managed to play 3 complete rounds without incident using Game Booster, although through my experiences I've become a total skeptic in regards to problems miraculously resolving themselves (I still believe his underlying problem still exists).

But at this point it would appear that I've done pretty much all I can for him for now. So with that, please feel free to close this topic.

Be assured though that I am very appreciative for all the help and suggestions you guys have given me to try and help him get to bottom of the problem/s....

Cheers.....Jeff
