CleanMem 1.6.1 mini monitor error
« on: December 13, 2010, 12:23:36 PM »
Hi Shane,

I love this program and it has saved me a lot of headaches. My mini monitor suddenly stopped working after a crash a few days ago. I tried to get it started again as I love the little icon in my bottom right task bar. But nothing worked. So I uninstalled and discovered you have a new version so dl'd 1.6.1 and I cannot get it to install. I receive an error msg for the mini monitor.
"(install drive):\cleanmem/minimonitor.exe
A decompression error has occurred (#5)
could not open output file"
(screenshot attached)
I chose ignore and continued install. Once installed I clicked mini monitor set startup.exe and checked my task manager. There I find Clean system memory - every 30 minutes.. looks ok
and
CleanMem  mini monitor - log on of any user.
But no icon appears in task bar
I checked again task manager and see multiple errors.
action failed to start - Launch failure
Task Scheduler failed to launch action "CleanMem Mini Monitor" in instance "{513ae791-2ab8-4a69-ac14-9173bba4f041}" of task "\CleanMem Mini Monitor". Additional Data: Error Value: 2147942405.

action start failed  - Run failure
Task Scheduler failed to start instance "{513ae791-2ab8-4a69-ac14-9173bba4f041}" of "\CleanMem Mini Monitor"  task for user "MJ-PC\MJ" . Additional Data: Error Value: 2147942405.
task registration deleted

I realise that clean mem runs un-noticed in the background but I prefer the mini monitor icon in my task bar because at a little click I can see the amt of memory being used and can decide to clean memory on whim. I simply like the little green box haha!
Can you advise what might be wrong?  BTW My crash was from a bad game file I was trying to install so shouldn't have any bearing on this but just in case.... since it was after this that I couldn't get mini mon to work

The mini monitor didn't get installed.
Download it again from my site http://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem
And make sure it matches the size and md5
Setup File Info: (896 KB)  (MD5 Hash - 8EDC7591DD3E9B3CD15925D95F6071CD)

This is what I use for getting MD5 http://beeblebrox.org/hashtab/

Whats nice about MD5 hashes is if the file is off by even 1 bytes the MD5 will be different :-)

Hi Shane,

Nope still same error msg. I installed hashtab and it shows is the correct MD5.  (see attached) It says is MD5 Hash - 8EDC7591DD3E9B3CD15925D95F6071CD and file size is  896 I tried from http://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem I click on majorgeeks and mirror both give me the correct hash and size but I still get the error
Any ideas now?

Perhaps it is your AV stopping it? Try disabling the AV.
Otherwise just download the portable version, and take the mini monitor out of there and throw it in the cleanmem folder you installed

HI Shane,

I tried disabling my av but still had the error. Very strange one to me. If anything is blocking I have all settings to let me know what is being blocked and I got no msg. But your suggestion to pull the minimonitor.exe from the portable version worked so I have it up and running again. I chalk this one up to a mystery but is solved. Thanks for your help
