Multiple Computers.. Creating a server
« on: October 03, 2010, 06:22:51 PM »
Hello
I am creating a server on a PC (Windows 7) for a computer game called Minecraft. Now, to do this, you need to Port Forward, Port:25565. I am having issues doing this, because the computer that has the router connected to it, is a Mac. The Mac has an Airport Extreme router, and also connected to that is a Ambit - U10C018.12. Now, I Port forwarded on the Mac very easily, just the PC I'm having issues.

Side Note. I have the server currently up and running, just only myself can join the server, but no one else can, not even a computer in my house.

Thanks

Edit: Not on a Wireless internet, Connected to router via Ethernet cable.

The ambit itself might be a router as well.

Log into the airport and find its internet/wan ip address. What is it?

IP:10.0.0.1
This the right one?
76.113.129.110 is the external IP

You are behind 2 routers.

Read http://www.pcwintech.com/how-setup-two-or-more-routers-together-port-forwarding-port-triggering

Then run my port tester on the server machine once that and the port forwarding is done.

Let me know how it goes

Hey, I read through the How-To, and seems rather simple, just one thing I don't know how to do. On the Mac, there is a program for the Airport Extreme to check it and do everything there, I just wouldn't know how to get into the Ambit, it says I need the ip address of it. Would I need to do that to find the ip address of the Ambit? Thanks

In the airport, where you found its internet IP, should be its gateway IP. That ip should be the ambit.
Open a web browser and put that IP in :-)

Maybe I'm doing something incorrectly, but i found this IP (it was called Router IP) and typed it into the browser bar (where i would type Www.google.com) but it pops up as "Can not find page" same happens when i type my normal ip address.

Can you take a screen shot of the window showing the airports internet IP?

OK your not behind 2 routers LOL

the 10.0.0.1 address made me think you where. I must have miss understood.

Ok so now, lets find out why port forwarding isnt working.

First, what is the local ip address of the computer that is acting as your server?

And can you post a screen shot of the port forwarding window in the airport? (This way I can check the rules)

ok, log into the windows computer, open a command window put in ipconfig

Find out which IP the windows computer is using. Write it down.

Now when making the rule in the airport make sure the rule points to the ip you wrote down.

Then download my port tester on the windows computer and test the port to see if it goes through :-)
