More trouble, from the Starcraft guy
« on: September 10, 2010, 08:17:59 AM »
Ok, so I noticed yesterday that I was only able to load very few webpages, and was unable to sign into yahoo messenger..

I tried every browser, and only a few sites would connect.

I went into the 1000 and 604 and toggled both DMZ settings to the off position, which fixed things.

what's that all about? any way to configure it so I don't have to toggle everytime I wanna play some starcraft?

I have a customer with this SAME problem.
They have qwest. And any time i put the m1000 into dmz mode certain sites stop working on the computers. Simply turning off DMZ fixes it. Then re-enable DMZ and it is good for about a day.

Of course trying to explain this to qwest tech support is a joke lol.

It was funny when i tried explaining the bug to them. They didn't know what DMZ was :-)

To fix it I ended up not using DMZ. I instead did a port forwarding rule for the same ports in the m1000 to the 2nd router.

Perhaps you can try that and see how it goes?

Alright, I'll give it a shot.
What about Starcraft, though? Everytime I want to play, I'll have to go the DMZ route?

I, too, have qwest.

So... how do I do that? lol

What I am saying, is instead of DMZ make a port forwarding rule in the M1000 for the same ports for star craft. But have it point to the internet IP of the D-link. Same as you would for DMZ.

port guru lol
Some people aim for stud muffin, hero, beef cake, ect. Me, I'm port guru LOL

Ok in the M1000 you are going to setup a port forwarding rule for the star craft ports. But for the IP you point it to you will point it to the same IP that you had in DMZ (Make sure DMZ is off)

So we are telling the M1000 to forward those ports to the D-Link

Let me know how it goes
