Unable to host Starcraft games.
« on: August 28, 2010, 11:20:41 PM »
I have attempted to run the automatic settings for Starcraft, but it tells me it is unavailable in the free version.

I utilized custom settings for port 6112 and the program added it to my DI-604 router
TCP/UDP 6112

I then used the 'Test Your Port Forwarding' tool, and it gave me the error code:
" 6112 is offline and can not be reached. "

How do I remedy this / host games?

We need to find out why it isnt working, and the best place to start is here

If you go down this list and still have trouble, just let me know and I will go down the list with you and help find the problem :-)

None of those issues seemed to apply..

Attempted both with and without windows firewall enabled, no dice.
After deleting the entry from window firewall permissions, upon launching starcraft again, a new prompt requesting permission showed up, so it is being detected, and I allowed it.

I'm able to chat/join games... but unable to host due to latency issues.

There is a firewall in the router, but it is disabled.

If you need any screenshots of anything, let me know.

Also able to be step by step via IM client, or phone.

Well lets start going down the list.

First, find the WAN/Internet Ip in the router. Does it match the Ip on the port tester page?

Also what is your computers Local IP? and can you post a screen shot of the port forwarding page. This way I can check the rule for ya :-)

Just thought i might add my question in this thread as well...

Would UPnP help host a S2 game?

UPnP is a automatic port forwarding in the router for software that supports it. Dont know if SC2 supports it, but would be shocked if it didn't. So as long as your not behind 2 routers UPnP should be just fine. Make sure it is enabled in the router and give it a try. (And of course DMZ is disabled)

let me know for future reference

Log into the router, find the status page that shows your WAN/Internet IP address. Does that IP match the IP on the port tester page?

Huh, I wasn't aware the M1000 was a router, as it doesn't have a bunch of ports like the 604.. only the one ethernet sized jack.

Alright.. I unplugged the DI604 and had only the M1000 on the comp, but I had to go to 192.168.1.1 to access it, as 192.168.0.1 wouldn't work

once I got to the wan area, this is what I see:

http://a.imageshack.us/img820/7428/44802633.jpg

there is not specific IP address there, just options to set stuff?

clicking DHCP settings gives me this:

http://a.imageshack.us/img243/7882/85898517.jpg

and clicking WAN gives me this:

http://a.imageshack.us/img37/4440/90363553.jpg

what specifically do I have to do to get this to work? I'm not sure what numbers to put where

Wall Outlet > M1000 > DI604 > PC

No Problem, this will be easy for ya :-)

Ok follow these steps.

Step 1. Log into the DI604
Step 2. Find the WAN/Internet IP it has and write it down.
Step 3. Log into the M1000
Step 4. Find the DMZ page (Left side at the bottom on the advanced page)
Step 5. Put in the IP you wrote down, enable and save.

Now all incoming connections will be sent to the DI604.
Setup your port forwarding rules in the DI604 since now the M1000 is out of the way

ok good, you setup DMZ right.
Need 2 more things from you.

First, in the M1000 make sure no port forwarding rules are set, if so remove them.
2nd, post a screen shot of the port forwarding page in your D-Link. Make sure to scroll to the bottom first so I can see the rules :-)

I think this is the proper port page for the 1000:
http://a.imageshack.us/img831/1695/98385125.jpg

doesn't look like anything is forwarded, and the applications section below this on the left is blank of entries

Here's the di:
http://a.imageshack.us/img718/41/56433080.jpg

the applications tab is empty
