Port Forwarding not working after months of success...
« on: August 10, 2010, 03:08:29 AM »
I have a ZyXEL P-2602HWN-D7A with o2 German Firmware.  Port forwarding has worked for months.  After returning from a long trip, I updated my Simple Port Forwarding Program.  Since then, Port Forwarding is not working.  If I look into the Status screen of my router, the Port Forwarding exception is not even listed as it "used" to be.  No matter how many times I re-run Simple Port Forwarding, I never see the Ports being opened in the router.  Every Port Check fails.

Help??

My first guess is that you updated the firmware on your router and the router changed enough so that the program isn't working now.  If that is the case (that you updated the firmware) please let us know and then, with your help, the new firmware can be added.

I am about to leave for the day but for now can you go ahead and post back with the exact firmware you are using on that router (you should find that on the status page of the router or something similar) and Shane should be able to help you out from there.  By the time I can get back to this thread Shane will probably have you fixed up.

Thanks for the reply Evan,

the Firmware of my Zyxel P-2602HWN-D7A (02 German firmware) is V3.40(AOF.7)D0 from 06.05.2010.

I keep trying to open a port with the program and it tells me "update successful".  But in the Router menu itself, the Port has STILL not been opened.  I've been away since May, and I haven't updated the firmware myself.  Perhaps a subletter changed something.

I hope Shane can get back to me with a solution.  Thanks, Mark

Yeah, screenshots are definitely a big help.  I was asking about the firmware so that Shane could check it against his entire database (he might have something that hasn't made it into the program yet).  I was running late for work and completely forgot that he was out of town (sorry about that Shane).  I'm only available in the evenings (United States) and sometimes for about an hour early in the morning.  I'll do what I can to get you fixed up before Shane is back though.  If I can't, then just be patient and I can assure you that everything will be fixed.

Something else you can try is to use a different browser to try and make the changes.  If you are using Internet Explorer then try Firefox or Chrome.  Sometimes one browser will work while another won't.  Also make sure that your Java is up to date as that can cause issues too.

Basically I'm just suggesting you try changing settings in the router using something different than what you are doing currently.  I'm also assuming that you are NOT using Simple Port Forwarding to make the changes.  If you are, then try changing the settings manually.

So, here are screenshots of my SPF Program, the Router Window after the Program has supposedly opened the Port, and the Port Check that fails:

The script is failing. So the rule isn't being added.
It looks like it is failing when it is suppose to put the combo box where you currently see the www to user defined.

Good news, bad news time.
Good news, this is a easy fix!
Bad news, I cant fix it till I get home!

Dear Shane,

thx for the quick replay even though you are on vacation.

No sweat, enjoy your sister's wedding.  All is well, I can download, just not seed.  And that can wait till you get home and have time to help me.

I look forward to your reply when you get home, Mark

Sounds good

Heading out the door now for a all day family event.

Do me a favor. Post a reply to this forum on the 16th. I get home on the 15th late and will be back to getting work done on the 16th. I know I will be behind and I will forget to reply back, so a friendly reminder will be great :-)

Just got home and almost midnight :-)

heading to bed.
Do me another fav. Use my router screen capture program and then email me the zip file it creates.
You don't need to capture all the screens, just the port forwarding pages.

When I get back to work in the morning I will look over what you sent me and get the script updated

Just uploaded the screenshots with your program.  Since I was unsure of which pages to upload, I did all the Network pages (including port forwarding "port-weiterleitung" AND the Firewall pages in case I've done something wrong there...

Need just one more thing. Use the screen capture program again, and on the port forwarding page, in the drop down where you see www
choose user define
I need the pages it pulls up as well :-)

I sent the screen captures again....I had to take more than you needed cause the program wouldn't let me only take 1 screen capture of the "user-defined" screen.....thanks again, Mark
