Microsoft Works
« on: July 27, 2010, 10:52:18 AM »
Well this new (to me) PC has Windows 7 which I am totally unfamiliar with. On my XP system I use Microsoft Works Calendar function to set reminders to myself and my wife. What/where is the corresponding program/feature in Windows 7?

MS Works isnt part of windows, its a different program, like office.
Do you have the Works cd, you can just install it on your windows 7.

No - no cd - it came with the XP machine. However, it is on the XP restore disc - I know only because I got it (Works) from the restore disc and installed it on the laptop. Would love to do the same thing with this new PC but I guess I never printed out the instructions of how to find it on the restore disc. I had found the instruction on-line and just followed them and it worked just fine. Unfortunately I spent about an hour goggling and I can no longer find those instructions. If you can tell me how to get it off the restore disc that would be great.

Never even touched a restore disk. Always threw them away :-)

But I bet the setup is just in a folder, have you done a search on the cd for the word works?

Well I hate to admit it but no I didn't search the disc. In my defense the procedure that I went through before never had me go anywhere on that disc that remotely resembled 'works'. As I recall all the stuff started with MG something. So it just never occurred to me do that. And of course there it was -- although it was a struggle to get to it with Windows 7. I don't care for their search at all, I much prefer the one on XP. But the long and short of it is it was there and supposedly it is installed now.     :shy:

Thank you.
