"Router updates ok, but port forwarding still fails"
« on: June 25, 2010, 09:34:20 AM »
Hi All

Very glad to have found this site and the simple programs as I am trying to enable port forwarding.

Firstly I used Simple Static which I got going with no problem.

I then set up Simple Port Forwarding and went through it easy enough, however when I begin the tests of Port Forwarding I get the error "Router updated ok but port forwarding still fails"

I have gone through the Commom Problems, and I dont believe anything there is the problem (IE ok, no second router, firewall ok...) and have checked the additional programs where available. I have also read through the threads here but my understanding is very limited and I am not sure what applies

It seems to always in the port range I want. the first port (49152) is in use and unable to check. I used port scanner and it shows as open but in use with unknown program

Apologies if I am missing something obvious but is there anything I can do to get it going?

Thanks  :cheesy:

Screen shot was a little hard to read. Do you have the program closed that you want to have port forwarded? If not make sure you do. My port tester tries to open the port in order to open and listen on it to make sure the test works.

You could manually put the port in the port test page and try it with the port already in use. The goal is just to make sure a connection from the internet can reach your computer :-)
