A network cable is unplugged?

Hi everyone. I just started with port forwarding and after two days of frustration finally got it to work (damn you windows firewall!) but now my internet connection seems to randomly disconnect. What I mean is that the computer will give me a message saying that a network cable has been unplugged, like if I had unplugged my router or modem then immediately fixes itself. This is very annoying as I stream lots of movies through netflix, etc. and this will interrupt them and force me to restart. Anyone ever heard of this?

I have seen this tons of times. And it can be a different number of things.

Here are some of the things it has been for me (fixing peoples computers and my own)

1st. and most common, a bad network cable. If the cable is bad and the signal is weak you will get the network disconnected message.

2nd. Bad nic card drivers. I have had bad drivers cause this problem as well (they where realtek cards, haven't had a driver issue on others)

3rd. Your router/modem that the cable is plugged into is the problem. Either it has a bad network port itself (try plugging the cord into a different spot) or the modem/router is rebooting on you.
