Sorry if I am bieng a bit thick here, but I though I had to use a static IP so I could forward ports (whatever that means) to the Trendnet router (for vuse, which now says the port 49218 is working ok).

As a recap, I have a Huawei modem / router which feeds the Trendnet (its a location issue - when I changed over broadband, supplier would only install connection at front of house and the cabled internet points were all into the old trendnet router which is at the rear, so I just ran a single cable to hook up into the Trendnet.

Can you run through how I turn off static IP on my PC (I cant remember how I turned it to static).

I am still not sure how I then enter my PC to the  Job Status page when I run Update Router.

The part that confuses users the most is the fact they have 2 different IPs. Your internet IP or WAN and your local IP or LAN.

And of course when you have 2 routers you now have 4 IP ranges! So it is easy to get confused on what freaking IP goes where lol.

Your computer and anything else connected t your network gets it IP info automatically (From DHCP)

Well when you port forward you are pointing that rule to an IP. And if your IP is automatic that means it could change, thus making the port forwarding rule no longer work!

But your router uses the computers name instead of the IP. So if the IP changes your rule will keep working.
So this is why you don't need a staic Ip on your setup.

So open my simple port forwarding program, open the set static IP tool and hit disable :-)

Then update the router again :-)
My script should work if your computer is in the list. Lets go from here

Sorry if I am repeating myself, I thought I posted a reply but does not seem to be showing on the forum .

I can see the local IP for my PC.

I thought I had to have a static IP so I could forward the port (for Vuse).

I still cant see how can enter my PC details in the Job Status when I run Update Router in SPF.

Dont worry. we will take it one step at a time.

Ok on the port forwarding page, where the pc list is. see the link next to it?
"My PC is not listed"
Click that, take a screen shot and post it, then I will walk you through what to do from there :-)

I think I have removed static IP from my PC.
I ran SPF and my pc appeared in the drop down list, so i selected it. I tried to update router but it said too many entries for vuze (there was five I think), so I deleated all and ran SPF again.
this is what listed on the left hand side:
