error message
« on: May 12, 2010, 03:11:51 PM »
Hi

Spent hours trying to forward port to Huawei HG520b then came across SimplePort Forwarding programme but got this error message

hp-2dp40ao3qg06 (192.168.0.5) is managing this device

The reason I have been attemting this is Ive been trying to get Vuze working properly - I was on Virgin and download speeds of 100, 200, up to 900 Kb/s was no problem but recently changed to Talk Talk and seem to be stuck in b/s and rarely get upto even 10kb/s.

I am not a techie by any stretch of the immagination so have not got a clue where I go from here - anyone got any idea ?

Regards

I have just realised I have two routers - am trying to follow instructions but cant find how to enable DMZ on the Huawie HG250b (this is connected to the ADSL socket and feeds the other, a Trendnet TEW 431 BRP which is connected to the internet sockets the 3 rooms with PCs).
Anyone have any info o how to enable DMZ on the Huawei ?

About 10:30 pm for me and tomorrow is my wifes birthday and I have a room to get ready, so sorry if this answer seems quick

In the huawei find the nat page and virtual servers (I think I am going out of memory here)
There should be a all ports rule. Put the WAN ip of the 2nd router in there. Then all incoming connections will go to the 2nd router :-)

Thanks for the reply; I hope your wife (and you) enjoys her birthday.

I think I have set a static IP on the Trendnet TEW 431 BRP router (the one the PC’s are cabled to.

I went into the WAN Port menu under the advance section and entered the IP address of the Trendnet (which I got from the Status page of the Trendnet).

In the WAN Port section of the Trendnet, In the Gateway I put the IP address for the main Huawei router / modem. I also used this Huawei IP in the ‘use this DNS section lower down the page.

In the LAN page of the Trendnet  (which shows a different TCI/IP address  – is this normal ?) I unchecked the DCHP Server box. The start IP address next to this was three parts greyed out with the number 2 in the last box ant the finish IP address three parts greyed out with 51 in the last box.

I ran S P F programme on the Trendnet to set up vuse, on the left hand side of SPF it said step 2 false, step 7 failed, step 15 failed  and said finished adding vuse, DONE all commands finished.

I ran the Nat test in Vuse for port 49218 and got error message half a dozen times, just ran SPF again on the Trendnet (got the same listing for steps 2, 7 and 15) and then Vuse Nat test and then got the Gongratulation, you fixed it message.
I have not run the SPF on the Huawei – do I need to ?

Is there any way to chaeck (easily) if I have done anything wrong – my son plays Warcraft (but on a different PC to this one on which I use Vuse), will what I have done affect his PC accessing the routers ?

Once again, many thanks

Enable dhcp in the trendnet. You want that enabled, it gives the computers their IP addresses :-)

The LAN IP will be different than the WAN that's the way they work. One is normally an internet IP while the other is local.

You don't need to do anything in the huawie any more, that's the point of dmz or the all ports rule, every port is being sent to the trendnet :-)

What happens when you run the port tester?

If SPF is giving errors can you post the log?

Hi
Checked DHCP so that is now enable.

When I run simple Port Tester, put 49218 in the left hand (grey) side, it checkes 49220 and says 49220 is unavailable.
I entered 49218 in the right hand side and it sais port is online and can be reached.

Sorry to be such a dummy but all this is like a foreign language to me - haw do I post the log (i assume this is the list on the left hand side of the SPF.

Thanks

OK looks like it is updating the router like it should. When you run the port tester make sure vuze is closed

Hi

Vuse was on last time, I have closed it down and ran SPT.

This time it said 49218 is offline and can not be reached.
Also, when I ran SPF, it displayed what lookes like a page if info from the trendnet router, heading was Virtual Router.

Next to the 'servers' heading, Web is highlighted and underneath, next to 'properties' heading ther is an enable tickbox which is ticked next to AzuresVuze01, and under this is a drop down box next to 'PC server'.
Yesterday there was about 5 or 6 entries in this drop down box, now there are 3. One is listed as my sons laptop (though it is a desktop and the others imagine are my desk top and my wifes laptop.

Do I need to put my PC in this drop down window  ? (if I can find out which one is mine).
Thanks again.

Can you post a screen shot?
Also make sure my program is allowed through your firewall in order for the port test to work :-)

in fact, post a screen shot of the main window of the program. This will let me see the rule and your local IP.
Then post a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router. This will let me see if the rule was added right :-)

Hi again

How do I make sure the programme is allowed through my firewall ?

I have no idea if I am using a firewall, I have disabled the window firewall via control panel (all machines in the house are on XP.

OK I see the problem

The script isn't setting which computer to send the rule to.
Run the script again. This time when it is done choose your computer in the list on the page and click update :-)

Run the port test and see how it does.

Hi
I have looked on system properties to get this PC's name I but dont think my PC is on the list of the 3 options in the drop down box on the job status page.

In the drop down dox are:
one that is listed as my one sons's laptop (but he sold that last year ?),
another with my surname and some numbers (does not match my PS's name from system properties)
one listed as unknown.

In brackets after the compter name eeach has an IP address, but none of these is the IP address I got from 'whats my IP address' (and a couple of others that I tried.
'whats my IP address' said my IP address is static (so looks like I managed to do something right !)

This PC's name is 'HP Kitchen' then load of letters/numbers and last two blocks of my IP address is 133.79

You don't need your internet IP here.
You need your Local IP. IN the upper right menu of simple port forwarding it will tell you your IP.
Also if your computer has a static IP go ahead and turn it off. Since your router goes by computer name you have no need for a static IP :-)

Do that and then check the list again.
