Cleanmem hangs
« on: March 24, 2010, 02:50:04 PM »
I downloaded cleanmem 1.4.0.2 a few weeks ago.  It really made a difference with memory issues that I have been having. But recently, cleanmem hangs.  For example, it ran 10 minutes ago and it still is showing in task manager.  Mem usage stays constant and I end up having to cancel it, otherwise I'm back to having memory problems.

I'm running Windows xp pro sp3.  Any ideas on what's causing this?

Thanks for your help, Crystal

Never heard of cleanmem hanging. So I'm not sure where to look first.
What antivirus do you have running? I am wondering if it is some how interfering with cleanmem.

Shane,

I was running AVG v9 but I removed it because the recent update brought my system to a standstill.  I'm running ZoneAlarm, Winpatrol, and Iobit Security.  I haven't seen any messages relating to cleanmem from these programs.  I can't narrow down when this occurs either.  I just notice it when I get insufficient memory messages from word.  I also don't reboot my PC for weeks at a time, just hibernate.  Could this cause a problem?

Thanks, Crystal

The thing about windows is it needs to be reboot every now and then. I know others say you don't need to but that is crap. Programs leak, cause problems and all kinds of other things can happen. When you reboot the system gets to restart it self fresh and start clean. I turn my system off every night.

I use Avira my self (www.free-av.com)

I would reboot the system and see if it clears things up

Shane,

Just wanted to update you. I've been rebooting my PC every 3rd day (or so) and I haven't had cleanmem hang. I guess you're right, windows needs to be rebooted every so often.

Thanks for your help, Crystal
