Remote Desktop Web Connection
« on: March 06, 2010, 08:36:46 AM »
Hi,

I need help please.. I would like to access my work computer from home through remote desktop web connection. I know that my work pc is connected to a router but I do not know if I need port forwarding to be able to use the RDP web connection. I do know that I can access my work pc with RDP web connection from another pc at work..

Thanks,
Mydith

Yes you need to forward port 3389 to your work computer on your work's router.
But you could always install teamviewer (www.teamviewer.com) on your work computer and on your home computer. No port forwarding needed

Dang.. The bad news is they specifically wanted me to use remote desktop. Is it only port 3389 that I need to configure? I suppose our system admin forgot that the router was not setup.

Right port 3389. Keep in mind team viewer doesn't need port forwarding and is free for personal use.
