uTorrent upload speed was consistent now it is not
« on: February 06, 2010, 05:56:14 PM »
I was very happy to find this program because I utilize uTorrent  almost every day. The first time I put in the info needed and updated the gigaset se567, everything was successful. I had the green checkmark at the bottom of the uTorrent page and my upload speed was sticking around the 54.0 kB/s mark. All was good! I decided to add another torrent client that required a range of ports to be open and after updating, troubles began. I could not open any webpages so I deleted the latest entry from the gigaset se567 and I was then able to utilize my browsers. I no longer have the green checkmark (yellow triangle) and my upload speed is all over the place. When I test the port that I have set in Utorrent , I get the message '... is offline and cannot be reached'.  I shut down the gigaset se567 for 10 seconds hoping to apply any changes that were made but no improvements were found.  I am confident that the solution is fairly simple and therefore wish to place it in the hands of experts who have dealt with this issue many times. Any suggestions or advice would be most welcome by this newbie to computers and networking. Cheers!

Take a screen shot of your port forwarding page for me

Also keep in mind ISP's start throttling and blocking heavily used ports. So you have to change ports in utorrent at times when things slow down.

http://tinypic.com/r/35c1m3s/6      I hope this screen shot both works and helps you out.  In regards to my original post, I didn't have enough torrents seeding, so now I do and my upload speed is back to where it was before.  Thanks!

Thanks for your response, but whenever I test the port, I continue to get the message '... is offline and cannot be reached'.

Make sure your testing port 51040 and that your computers IP is 192.168.1.65 (You can see your computers ip in the top of my simple port forwarding program)

And of course make sure to read this over.

You would be surprised how many people say they do read it and when I go to fix them it was one of the fixes on this page lol

Thats why its not working, the port is being sent to 65.
Just go to the port forwarding page and either manually edit it (Click the edit button) or just remove it then have my program update it again once it is gone.

I edited the info and now my current local Ip and the forwarded to are the same 192.168.1.66   I updated the router (successful) but when I test the port I continue to get the ... is offline and cannot be reached message.
